Someone explain sexism to me

I’m so confused about the female perspective of this and much as I would like to be supportive, suddenly things are looped and confusing.

Someone explain… why is it that Miley Cyrus is a total slut for doing what she did at the VMA but Britney Spears is praised and idolized in her new video, despite her wearing barely anything? 

My newsfeed is filled with girls that hate on games because the characters have bikini armor sets….

But then half of their own personal photos have them in little shorts and a tshirt with metric tons of cleavage.

I swear the concept of sexism is nonexistant… it’s just a way for one female to ridicule something they don’t like but it’s okay for the things (people) they like.

Come Halloween….. all these girls parade around as skimpy police girls and sexy nurses, but the message for every other day of the year is that if a video game character dresses like that or a cosplayer, than it’s completely wrong? 

Shit makes no sense to me, and probably other guys. Why is it okay to like this musician that prances on stage in a bikini but then they attack a character in a video game for wearing a bikini and cargo pants?
