Jesus’s beloved friend John stopping by~
His mother called to him, "Jesus, John is here."
Jesus said, "Talk to you later, dad," as he jumped from his bed, eager to greet his beloved cousin and friend, and would soon be called his beloved disciple.
"John," Jesus exclaimed! "Your a sight for sore eyes! How long has it been?"
"Over ten years," John exclaimed as they embraced each other.
"Are you still dreaming dreams, John?"
"Yeah. I’m still looking for the Messiah. Actually, that’s why I stopped here. There’s a man who preaches by the Jordan river. He lives in the wilderness and shares my name. It is said that he lives on nothing but locust and wild honey. He is said to be a prophet. And some wonders if he is the one that Israel is waiting for to end the slavery to the barbaic Romans, and for him to be proclaim king of Israel. Well, I need to see this prophet, John, to see just who he is."
Jesus know very well who John was speaking of. "His nickname, the Baptist, is very appropriate, because he preaches a way that demands that one surrenders one’s whole being to God, by way of a repentent heart and mind."
Then Jesus looked into the future, saying, "He is preparing the way of my ministry."
John witness that same mystical look that Jesus always wore when he spoke of heavenly matters….matters of which John seldom understood. "Are you saying, Jesus, that John is not the messiah?"
"John….questions, questions, questions…."
"Ah, Jesus, that reminds me: where is Mary Magdaline. I hear that is back living here. In fact, I hear that you two have been getting along rather well. And you know how people talk. They say that there may even be a wed-"
Jesus interrupted his beloved friend. "Yes, my dear friend. I know how people talk. But come in. We’re just about to eat dinner. Let’s talk-" Jesus couldn’t believe it. But couldn’t resist saying, "Speaking of the devil."
"Mary," John thundered! "What a sweet vision of lovliness you are! No wonder Jesus is hiding you here."
She ventured, "Yes, well, I’ll gladly walk in his shadow, while serving him with love all day long."
Jesus’s heart couldn’t help but leap. "Well, Mary, would you like to follow my shadow into dinner, right now?"
"Oh, Jesus. You sure do know the way to a woman’s heart."
Jesus looked at John, while shaking his head.
Jesus’s mother sat in the kitchen, drinking in this meeting of long-love friends! Another cherish memory that she would forever store in her heart
And I would want too, to walk in HIS shadow … as I am walking side by side with my LORD … Amen! -Lovely entry as always, Bri-
