Whoops… missed a day…

I think I missed writing in here yesterday… whoops.  No big deal, I’ve been doing pretty well over the past week.  I wasn’t feeling too well at work yesterday so I left on the early side but instead of going home to rest, my daughter came over and we ended up getting manicures, pedicures, and hair color.  It didn’t really matter — fight the cold at home or fight it out at the nail place/beauty parlor, either way.  I was not crazy about what was done to my hair, but such is life, it’ll grow back.  Anyway, it took a really long time but my daughter was pretty chipper after that.  We also went shopping at Target and got some cool clothes on sale; so, all in all, it worked out pretty well.

It has been hot here all day long but now the thunderstorms are coming through so, hopefully, it’ll cool down and be wonderful.  It feels like a lazy summer afternoon right now (even though it’s already 6:24pm).  I love it… it feels like I’m on vacation… a little breeze stirring and a cloudy day outside with rumbles of thunder in the background.

Work was pretty good today but money is sparse at the church… too much going on.  They’re $7000 short of payroll.  I told them I would take a pay cut but they won’t do it.  Some others can’t really afford to take a pay cut because they are main wage earners.  Anyway, they think maybe the chairman of the board will come up with the money out of his own pocket.  I don’t know if he should. As long as they pay our acting Pastor, that’s probably the most important.  What a mess this all is.  I get so upset with our absent Pastor but realize we were having plenty of money problems even before he got himself into some trouble.  We were, however, bobbing up above the water now and then.  It will truly take a miracle from God if this church makes it.  I think we’re going to really have to scale back and that many of us may have to just do volunteer work for awhile or do a lot more work for the money we’re getting.  I truly wouldn’t mind vacuuming, cleaning, and doing that sort of thing as part of my duties.  We’ll see what happens.

Wow! The rain is really pouring down now.  I hope we don’t have a power outage or a flood here.  One year the water in the parking lot got so incredibly deep our car stalled out in a huge puddle trying to go home.  Water started coming  in to the car and it got deeper and deeper until it was up to the level of our seats, a little past that in the back seat.  The litter from our car floor was floating around and we had to push it to our space.  Amazingly enough, once it all dried out all we had to do was change the air filter and it was okay!  It’s funny to look back on it now but I thought we had ruined the car forever when it happened.

I can’t believe how heavy this rain is!

I hope it quits raining before you go home and I hope the church can pull itself out of money problems. It keeps raining where I am too.
