Santa Worship

First off, the good news is that my granddaughter and daughter and in great shape heart wise. The cardiologist has given both of them a clean bill of health. That was a relief.

We’ve had quite a week end over here. Our beater car ended up with two flat tires that we had to deal with. Our hot water heater began to leak everywhere (down to the condo below us!) so we had to figure out how to clean up that mess, drain the excess water out, then today we went and bought a new water heater which (we hope) will be installed tomorrow or the next day. In the meantime I’m heating up pans of water on the stove to do dishes and wash hair etc.

I had signed up to bring goodies for Bible Study this AM so I had baking to do (with no hot water to wash up pans). What a pain in the butt this whole week-end has been.

I went with my daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and the kids my daughter used to nanny to see The Polar Express in Imax 3-D. It was pretty amazing. The technology was wonderful and the movie was pretty good. The only thing that I found really disturbing, well… horrifying actually, was a scene where the children and thousands of adoring elves were preparing to welcome Santa and they began chanting his name and essentially worshipping him. Both my daughter and myself were somewhat appalled at this scene. I remember thinking, “Oh, forgive us God, we’re morons. That SHOULD be Jesus.” And Santa emerged from this big door. They only showed his sillohette at first. I just kept thinking that this was distinctly sacreligious and now, more than ever, it is very clear that satan is behind the whole Santa/Easter Bunny thing. It’s just all so creepy. And then this kid, who has begun to doubt there is a Santa is struggling with his belief and he stammers out that he believes. I felt like shouting at the screen, “Don’t give in!! THAT’S not the right thing to believe in! Don’t do it!” How can we tell our kids to believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny and God, then turn around and tell them, “Well, there is no Santa and no Easter Bunny, but sure, there’s a God.” It’s no wonder so many people struggle with doubt these days. Anyway, I’m sure other people think I’m just a ranting fanatic, but you’d have to see this movie to understand it and if you even have a mild working knowledge of the Bible and the Ten Commandments and a casual relationship with the Holy Spirit, I think it would have to prick your spirit and make you feel a little uncomfortable.

Oh well… I’m exhausted, must sleeeeeep! Good night

Wow, I never thought of it that way Sacreligious? Hmmmmmmm? I will have to chomp on this for a while. I did hate even telling the girls there was a Santa. It felt wrong……

wow, so true! I’ve never heard it put like that re Santa, Easter Bunny beliefs versus beliefs in God… but it really makes a whole lot of sense. *commits argument to memory* Nice one. I’ll look out for it in the movie.

I decided to tell my children there was no Santa Claus right from the get go for the same reasons. Then at the store one day Santa came around the corner and they said, in unison, “He IS real.” Turns out age and a relationship with the Holy Ghost helped them work it out with no harm.

Oh Horaay for this entry! Our Family is a Santa and Easter bunny NO GO ZONE! The other day Brielle, my 4 year old daughter, asked if she could sit on santa’s lap at shopping center. I told her ‘No sweety we dont believe in Santa, we believe in God, because God Is Real and He loves us.” Its a harcd thing for a 4 year old to comprehend.. but she is doing marvellous!

To Be Honest, I am a christian and I dont believe in celebrating Christmas or Easter. They are festivals taken straight out of paganism, dressd in christian names. Its total blasphomy and against all biblical teaching. Instead of the silly season we follow the 7 Holy Days in the Old Testement. Many believe that Most things in the OT are not rerevant anymore. The Bible tells us otherwise 🙂

Our Children Brielle and Joshua have gift time on The Feast of Tabernacles. Its a wonderful family time filled with advntures (staying away from the home) and learning about God’s coming kingdom. I dont feel she is missing out… how could she be… she is learning about God! Anyways, I loved the entry!
