Update on my mom

As of toady May 18th: 
I talked to her today and she says she is still in alot of pain but she is now up and walking atleast to the end of the hall and back and she no longer has the iv as of today and is on a clear liquid diet, tomorrow she should be able to go on a solids diet then home by Saturday wehre my grandma will be taking care of her!! I hate being so far away I love you mom…here are some emails i recieved from my grandma each day from her surgery just to give you a progressive update, also her incision I found out today was from her breast bone to her pubic line OUCH

Monday May 15th Day of surgery:

Melanie did well in the surgery.  She came through it just fine.  She is in intensive care and will be there at least over night.  She was complaining that she was hurting but the nurse has just given her some morphine.  Her face was a little puffy but the Dr. said she was fine.

Wednesday May 17th
Just got back from the hospital and Melanie is doing much better.  The Dr came in while I was there and he told her she could get up and walk.  The aide came in and she walked out into the hall and then sat in a chair for a while.  They changed and made her bed and were going to give her a bath and clean gown before she went back to bed.  The Dr. said she could probably have liquids and a soft diet tomorrow.

and today again May 18th:
Melanie is doing fine and is up walking around without dragging the IV now.  They put her on clear liquids today and said she would be on a regular diet tomorrow.  If she tolerates the solid food she will probably come home on Saturday.  Thank you all for caring.
