I got to thinking this past weekend about respect.
Wikipedia has this definition: Respect is an assumption of good faith and competence in another person or in the whole of oneself. Depth of integrity, trust, complementary moral values, and skill are necessary components. Respect adds general reliability to social interactions. It enables people to work together in a complimentary fashion, instead of each person having to understand or even agree with every detail of another’s method.
I have found a genuine LACK OF RESPECT in todays society. This from the way we treat one another, to how someone might treat anothers property or values. There is and has been for a very long time a disrespect for parents, schools, or people in authority. There is also I find these days a lack of respect for ones self.
The lack of respect in how we treat one another by how we talk to one another or message eachother. I think respect starts at a very early age, atleast I would hope it starts at an early age in how we have respect for our parents (or are taught to have respect for them). Respect I feel has to do also with our character. Before you can expect I think anyone to have respect for you, you have to have respect for yourself. Name calling, teasing, bullying another person is not good natured fun it is DISRESPECTFUL. We need to have compassion for eachothers feelings, beliefs.
HOW TO BE RESPECTFUL
Treat other people the way you want to be treated.
Be courteous and polite.
Listen to what other people have to say.
Don’t insult people, or make fun of them, or call them names.
Don’t bully or pick on others.. .
Don’t judge people before you get to know them. Or better yet don’t judge
someone else at all it is NOT your place.
Hugs to you all and have a great Evening or day depending on your time zone
good post 🙂

Quite true. Most people don’t know the meaning of the word!

I agree with there is no respect for authority but the way our leaders in authority act and change the laws to suit themselves that is where we have lost a lot of respect. And we do not teach respect to our elders, parents or others that really do deserve respect.

We saw Ratatouille twice last weekend. Hubby, worm, and I went the first time. Tickets, soda, popcorn, and a seat were obtained in about 2 minutes. My mom and I took worm the next day and again, took us about 2 minutes. Oh and ALL sodas and popcorns were free refills – which took under a minute to fetch and retrieve. Then again, I live in a small town. We have a two movie cinema.
