My Mom Had Her Tests Today….
My Mom had her arteriogram today. She had a stroke 8-10 years ago (I say 8 she argues 10) but they didn’t test anything but just tried and FINALLY successfully got her Blood Pressure down. They contributed the stroke to this and went on and sent her home. She still drags her left foot just very little and it is hard for her to hold a slipper on it but she does well. Anyways she had a doppler study done back the end of November which showed SOME blockage in her carotid arteries. He wanted her to schedule this arteriogram then, but she said she was to busy with the holidays. So she got through Christmas and then got a bad cold/congestion which put it off until today. She has 100% blockage in the right carotid artery (which the Doctor says has been this way for awhile.) Possibly since her stroke hmmmmmmmmm. Anyways the left carotid artery is 55% blocked. We are awaiting the Doctor talking with the Cardiologist etc. then we will go from there on what she will have done. But, as for now we wait. Talk about NOT listening to what she was told sheeeeeesh was like a 2 year old. Was to lay flat and NOT raise her head so what was she doing?? Raising her head and gawking around. I told her Mom lay your head flat and she said I had my groin messed with not my head I am fine…… She will NEVER listen. Told her to NOT lift anything over 15 lbs so she lifts. I told her if she breaks the clotting loose then she will bleed and she says so what. I tell you it is like raising kids again between her and my Dad.
Anyways Hugs to you all and Please remember my Mom and Dad.

Reminds me of taking care of my mom. She refused bars in the bathroom or shower, walked even though she had to stop to breath like an asthmatic every 10ft, went up and down stairs, refused any help except with cooking. The one thing she never liked doing in the first place. Stubborness…see any of her in yourself? Hugs and love, Amber

oh I hope everything goes well with your mom. How old is she? Mine is 78 (she’s biologically my grandmother.) Mine is stubborn as a mule, as well. She had an itchy spot on her arm last year, and when I saw it, I was convinced it was melanoma. (It was light colored, but I’d just finished some self-study on skin cancer recognition.) She was taking her sweet time to get an appointment for a Dr. Icalled her day and night for three weeks and finally she went in just to shut me up. Yep, the woman had freaking melanoma. They had to take a softball sized piece of her arm muscle, but she’s cancer free and alive. Do you think, maybe, that at their age they are so fearful of death that they are in some sort of denial about the possible consequences of their health issues? That’s the only reasoning I can come up with.
