Four/Twenty-Four
Phew! Well, readers, I’ve made it through 4 months in a foreign country. I now have 20 more months to go. Even though that may sound long, it isn’t. These past 4 have gone by surprising fast, just like Stan and Mj told me it would. Yeah… I should’ve written this entry 3 days ago.
New Years Eve was kind of lonesome. Then again, everything is pretty lonesome these days. The bR youth group didn’t throw a party and everyone else was busy. My New Years Eve went something like this: Mom and Dad, not really caring that it was the new year or not, went upstairs to bed at 11:30, telling James and I that we needed to go to bed at midnight. Honestly, who goes to bed at midnight on New Years? James and I counted down with the people in Sydney and as soon as they said ‘Zero’, ZOOM! James was upstairs in bed. Then I realized that it wasn’t the new year quite yet. Sydney and Melbourne are on different time zones, see? So I watched fireworks on TV (not a very uplifting experiance) alone until my watch told me it was midnight.
And you know what the worst part of the whole night was?
I had no one to kiss.
Anyways, right now I am waiting for mom and James to get back home. They went to go pick up the Colemans from the airport. My family has known the Colemans for about 9 years. Shawn, their son, has been James’ best friend since they were 3. Let me tell you, Shawn is like a 2nd brother; He was always at our house! Little video-game-munching monsters will gang up on me and shoot me with Nerf guns if I don’t keep my guard up…
Speaking of best friends coming to visit, Katherine might actually get to come! We gave her the dates of Haileybury’s winter holiday and her parents are seriously considering it. If she does come, then we’re going to watch Lucky Star, Sabrina, and The Swan Princess. If she comes, then we’re going to take the train downtown all by ourselves. If she comes, I’m going to teach her how to ride a bike.
Ciao!
