Lonely Girl’s Fantasy

Their eyes met –

is it recognition of a space and time not forgotten:

His eyes hold memories for her –

is it good or bad?

She’s puzzled by feelings of exhileration and doubt.

Is he true?

or just a figment of an overactive imagination?

A need to feel loved,

but nowhere to turn to –

but to almost forgotten images of the past.

He shows no emotion, over her brimming eyes –

she smiles faintly,

and walks away.

She was wrong, and strangely so,

because images left in her head –

are mixed with fantasy,

and the pain of harsh reality –

of what never happened,

but was produced in the heart of one lonely girl.

hmmmm….this is a poem that I wrote when I was a teenager, and saw an old boyfriend in the grocery store, and he totally dissed me.
