Another poem to me by Kevin in 1993
PATHETIC LOVE LIFE OF MINE
BY: KEVIN
WHEN I WAS A TEEN AND LOOKING FOR LOVE
I FELT SO ALONE THAT IT HURT
I WANTED TO FIND A GIRLFRIEND WHO CARED
TO LAUGH, HAVE FUN, AND FLIRT.
TO GIVE MYSELF TO A GIRL AND BE ALL SHE EVER WANTED
TO START LOOKING, I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW
I DREAMED OF BECOMING SOME FUTURE BRIDE’S DREAM
BUT TO FIND HER WHERE DO I GO?
IN MATH CLASS ONE DAY A GIRL WALKED IN
BOY, WAS SHE CUTE AND SO SHY!
AS THE DAYS WENT BY AND I BEGAN TO OBSERVE
THIS CUTIE REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE.
IT BEGAN WITH A NOTE, THEN A PHONE CALL AT HOME
THEN A DANCELESS DANCE AT OUR SCHOOL
WE’D GO OUT TOGETHER, GET MAD AND BREAK-UP
AND SOMETIMES WE’D ACT LIKE FOOLS.
THE DAY WE MADE LOVE I KNEW THEN AND THERE
I’D FOUND THE ANGEL THAT I SOUGHT
WE GOT A HOME, WERE MARRIED AND HAD KIDS
THEN CAME THE BILLS FROM THE THINGS WE HAD BOUGHT.
MY ANGEL WAS EATEN FROM A DEMON WITHIN
A DARKNESS I HAD REFUSED TO SEE
DOCTORS, DRUGS AND THERAPY, ABUSE FROM THE PAST
ARE WHAT’S LEFT OF MY LITTLE "SWEET PEA".
BICKERING AND FIGHTING ARE SOLDIERS OF WAR
A CONFLICT I CAN’T SEEM TO WIN
I SIT AT MY CAMPFIRE OUTSIDE HER FORT
JUST WAITING TO BE LET IN.
ALL FEELINGS ARE GONE, I’M NUMB TO THE BONE
WHAT DID I DO TO BE SHUNNED?
AGAIN, I’M ALONE, WAITING FOR HER LOVE
MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE STUNNED.
i AWAIT FOR THE DAY SHE’LL WAKE UP AND SAY
"I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THAT IT HURTS!
KISS ME IN PUBLIC, MAKE LOVE IN THE LAKE
LET’S JUST HAVE FUN AND FLIRT!"
