Two Saturdays
I’m smack in the middle of a lovely three-day weekend. Yay for me. Fridays off are so much better than Mondays off. As Dina says, it’s like having two Saturdays. And who doesn’t love Saturdays? And to make it even better, Alan had yesterday off as well, so we got to spend the day together, something we really haven’t done since I started working.
Speaking of work, it looks like things might be improving. We have two new kids starting this week — a 4-month-old on Monday and an almost 3-year-old on Wednesday. So Dina’s going to be working some real hours now. Good for her and good for me, since I won’t be alone all day anymore. Alisa’s also putting up an ad on CraigsList to find a part-timer for the afternoons. Oh, and did I mention that I’ll be getting the hours I want?! Finally! When I first interviewed for the position I had said straight out that I wanted an opening shift, and that was perfect for Alisa because she doesn’t want it. So now I’ll be working 7-4, Alisa will be 7:30-4:30, and Dina has the 9-6 shift. Then whoever Alisa hires part-time will have 4-6 or something thereabouts. And now that Dina will be there full-time we can leave the building on lunch. LOL… it’s not like I ever buy lunch, but it’ll be nice to get some fresh air.
Of course, since I’ll be opening the center, I now have a key. Go me! Pam is also looking into doing a buzzer system so we can let the parents in without hauling a bunch of kids all over creation.
Oh! And with the change in hours, I’ll be able to hit the gym on the way home from work, which was what I wanted to do all along. That way my trips to the gym don’t depend on my willingness to get out of bed early… which I’m never all that willing to do.
Other than that, the rest of April is looking like a busy time. We had dinner with Alan’s grandparents in Darien last night and we’re having dinner in Waterbury tomorrow. Alan has started some serious dental work, because he woke up the other morning with his face all puffed up and numb and it turns out he had an abcess. So they drilled a hole, filled it the next day and he’s having a root canal later in the month. Lucky guy, right? Next weekend I have a training class so that I can get certified to administer medication and Alan is going with Louis to a car show at UConn. The weekend of the 25th is about the only one that isn’t booked right now, though I have an appointment the following Monday, then Lisette’s wedding rehearsal on Thursday, Louis’ 21st birthday party on Friday, and Lisette’s wedding on Saturday. I must say, I’m looking forward to May 3rd. I’m planning on sleeping until May 4th. LOL!
And you may have noticed that I said it was Louis’ 21st birthday party. A dangerous thing, but rest assured that I will not be drinking more than a glass of wine or a single mixed drink. You really think I want to look all bloated and hung over in all those photos? And we won’t be staying late either. Alan may not know it, but we won’t be. LOL… Tired is just as bad as hung over, especially when it’s already going to be a tiring day.
Okay, I should probably get going. I have some serious baking to do today. I have Friendship Bread to make, plus a trial run of a lemon-yogurt pound cake for tomorrow’s dessert. Admittedly, I’m good at dessert, but I haven’t always had the best luck with cakes. This way I can just buy one if it turns out crappy. I also have to go to the library to get a new tax form since I can’t use the one I used last year because we’re not filing jointly this year. And of course, there are some new books to read. ^_^ I stopped at Barnes & Noble to get "Fool" and saw that they had already put out Tamora Pierce’s new one, "Bloodhound." ::happydance::
So, I’m off. TTFN!

Poor Alan; root canals suck! I’ve had two, and while the pain wasn’t too bad, having to sit in the dental chair with my mouth open for two hours was awful. I’m glad you’re getting the hours you want at work.

RYN: Both houses are absolutely lovely! 🙂 I really appreciate you being so helpful in this, darling, but I think in the end, we’re just going to get married at Eric’s parents’ house. It just feels right, for some weird reason. :-p But I really appreciate all the effort you put into trying to help me. 🙂 You’re too sweet. *HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGS*
