The First Week

Has it really been only a week since my last day? It certainly feels a lot longer, which probably has much to do with the fact that Alan and I are so mutually unemployed. I’m not used to seeing him this much, not by a long shot. Don’t get me wrong, I love my husband and I love spending time with him. But that doesn’t mean I don’t need some time to myself too.  I’m accustomed to being on my own most of the time after all, so all this sudden togetherness is starting to get on my nerves.

In an effort to get myself some (partial) solitude, I’ve been going back to the gym. I’d stopped for a few weeks, so I need to develop good habits again. And losing some weight certainly wouldn’t hurt.

My only other solitude comes with Alan’s interviews. It’s almost nauseating how easily the job search comes to him. Of the perhaps 8 resumes he submitted, he’s gotten responses 5 or 6 responses. He had a phone interview with AT&T yesterday and one with Primerica on Wednesday. He’s leaving soon for an interview with Firestone in Cromwell and had an interview with Aflac this afternoon that they had to reschedule. Meanwhile my experience in job hunting is that you submit 30 resumes and only 1 calls you back. And of course, that one job is in childcare — a field I would very much like to get out of. ::sigh::

It’s more than a little frustrating, to say the least. I just wish someone would give me the chance to prove myself. Part of me really hopes that Alan lands a great (high-paying) job so I don’t have to worry quite so much. Then maybe I can find something part-time or just turn my attentions to volunteering in a field that I actually enjoy. I’d call Pegasus in a heartbeat. Then I could work up some horsey experience.

::sigh::

I don’t have much else to say. I suppose I’d best go peruse the job sites.

*hugs* Good luck to the both of you! ryn: Thanks so much for the advice! I would love to serve hard liquor – but you’re right on only 1 or 2 drinks. Maybe get a margarita machine ^_~ Much cheaper to do it myself then rent people and a bar XD It’s just daunting trying to decide on everything, is all. I’ll figure it out 🙂 Thank you! ~*Stephanie*~

RYN: I actually do take it in the morning, but it still gives me some trouble. Last night was much better, though. Good luck with the job hunts!
