The First Day (of the rest of my life?)
Well, I got through my first day of detox with remarkable ease. I’m naturally something of a grazer, so eating 5-6 small "meals" is pretty easy. And because of what I’m eating, I didn’t have to worry about the calories involved. I keep a food log on FitDay.com and I actually ate less than 1500 calories and was 100% satisfied. Namely because if I finished a meal and I was still hungry I could eat more. There’s a lot to be said for eating when you’re hungry. I also managed to get rid of the headaches that have been plaguing me for the last week or so. I woke up with one yesterday, but decided not to take anything for it and by mid-afternoon it was gone. And I didn’t wake up with one today, so I’m taking that as a good sign. I also found a site that will calculate nutritional information based on a recipe, which is kind of awesome, since most recipes don’t list that sort of thing.
I also started the very gentle exercise program with a short walk outside yesterday, which might have been a mistake. Because it had snowed, I wore my big, clunky Columbia snow boots/shoes. They’re not the moon-boot style of snow boot, but those boots with rubber over the foot part and fabric or leather on the ankle. And they’re really heavy. I don’t wear them very often either, so now I have a blister on my heel. I’m putting today’s walk off until it warms up and melts some of the snow so that I can wear regular sneakers. Besides, it got nasty cold last night… -14*!
As far as trying to conceive, I think things are looking up. Using the OPK, I detected an LH surge on Sunday and today my BBT is up over 98* for the first time this cycle, which means that theoretically, I ovulated sometime yesterday. Alan and I had sex on Sunday night and last night. So my fingers are crossed that this is the month. I know Alan’s been a bit worried about it because he’s scheduled to deploy in March 2012. If I get pregnant this month, the baby would be due in early October. That means that he would only be home with us for five months before leaving for a year. That could be very difficult. And of course, the longer it takes to conceive the shorter that time at home gets. So fingers crossed, as always.

i started a program of just cutting out processed sugar and flour and i have definately noticed a difference. i made the mistake of eating some processed sugar yesterday and i walked away with a screaming headache. there’s much to be said about what your body tolerates versus what it actually needs/wants…

I’m glad the detox went well the first day, and I hope it continues that way! I also hope you CAN get out there to walk with only sneakers on. Blisters SUCK. :-p And here’s hoping that you get pregnant ASAP so Alan can be with the baby as much as possible. :-p *FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING HUGS*

I’m always amazed by the way food and exercise affects my body. Headaches, lethargy, anxiety, and more is directly affected by what I put in my body and the energy I expend. Glad the first day went well.

Glad the first day went well, and fingers crossed that this month is your month to get pregnant so Alan can spend as much time home as possible.
