Take the Weather With You

It’s cold. And gray. And wet. I could almost imagine that I’m back in New England. It’s definitely not Colorado weather.

Absolutely loving it. It’s the perfect day for curling up in fleecy pajama pants and a warm sweater.

I haven’t been lazy either. I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and am just waiting for my second load of laundry to finish in the dryer. I also made an appointment for my 20-week ultrasound.

I had another OB appointment yesterday and it went well. I’ve only gained 4 lbs so far and only 1 lb since my last appointment, which probably has something to do with the fact that I can eat real food again. I’ve also been able to let myself be hungry without getting almost instantly nauseous, so I don’t have to eat constantly. Plus I can eat salad again. So exciting! Even better, my blood pressure is back down to normal – 127/64. Thank goodness. I was starting to get worried. The doctor also found the heartbeat very quickly on the Doppler and it’s ranging from the high 150’s to the low 160’s, which is good.

My next appointment is on October 21st, which is the same day as my ultrasound. That’s when we can find out the gender. I wanted to do it on the 14th so that Alan could definitely come, but they didn’t have any openings and they didn’t want me to go before the 16th. Ugh. So there’s a chance that Alan will be at JRTC then. According to the schedule I have from the unit, he’ll have that day off and won’t leave for Louisiana until the next week, but there are no guarantees. The other option is to pay about $100 for an elective ultrasound place in town that does 3D/4D and gender determination. I’ll have to talk about it with Alan, obviously, and he’ll have to talk about it with his chain of command. I’d really like him to be there when we find out if it’s a girl or a boy.

I’m starting to get a bit of nesting instinct. I really want to clean up the second bedroom. In reality, it’s a bit silly since the baby will be sleeping in our room for at least 6 months.

More realistically, I should look into finding a maternity coat. I don’t get why I have to spend the same amount of money on a coat I’ll wear for one winter that I would spend on a coat I can wear year after year. So I’m scanning ebay for used ones.

Anyway, hunger is calling once again. Perhaps it’s time for some tomato soup.

A thrift store might be a good place to look, too.

hold up hold up hold up… there’s a NEW England now?!

I think, but am not totally sure that Once Upon a Child sells maternity stuff too, so that might be worth checking out if you have one. Glad to hear you’re feeling better, I am too, and it’s amazing how much happier and more productive I feel. I hope you guys can work something out so Alan can go to the ultrasound with you, because I’d definitely want him there to share in the moment. *Hugs* 🙂
