Survey

1) Are you from a small town?
Norwalk is hardly a small town, but it’s not a huge city either. In terms of area, yes it’s small, but the population density almost double that of Colorado Springs, which is kind of interesting.

2) If you were pregnant, would you want it to be a boy or girl?
I’m happy either way. I really want a little girl, but having worked with little girls, sometimes I think it’d be a lot better to have boys!

3) Describe the last piece of jewelry you wore?
Well, I always wear my wedding ring. It’s white gold in an intricate art nouveau filigree, with four diamonds in chevrons and a central aquamarine. I also usually wear earrings. At the moment they’re silver hoops in that particular style recognized by skaters and punks everywhere.

4) The last person you texted says they want you to be theirs, you say?
Well, since the last person who texted me was Alan, I’m pretty good with that. o_0 Of course, the last person to text me before that was Zach, which would just get complicated and messy.

5) Do you think you’ve changed over the past year?
Not a lot, no. My environment certainly has, but I am still the same basic person I’ve always been.

6) What kind of mobile phone do you have?
Blue Samsung Intensity

7) Did you sing at all today?
I’ve been singing along to Sarah Brightman and Charlotte Church on Pandora

8) Who was the first person you talked to today?
I haven’t talked to anyone today except the kitties. If you want to include them, I yelled at Karma for being a pest and trying to wake me up at about 4 AM.

9) Are you happier now than you were 4 months ago?
Definitely. Four months ago I was still very homesick for Connecticut.

10) Your brother tells you he’s in jail, what do you say?
Well, if my brother-in-law told me that, I think I’d ask him why first, then call him an idiot. I might consider bailing him out.

11) Looking back, did you ever think you would be where you’re at in life now?
Definitely not! In college I was sort of involved with a guy who was in the National Guard and one of the reasons I stopped seeing him was the fact that he was a soldier. So being a soldier’s wife is a bit of a shock. (The other reason I stopped seeing him was a crush I had on another guy. I think I probably should have just stuck with Ed. He was a really good guy.)

12) Are you dating someone right now?
Haha… nope. Marriage tends to limit dating possibilities.

13) What’s on your mind right now?
How long it’s going to take me to catch up to where I should be on NaNo.

14) Can you go a day without music?

Yes, but I prefer not to. Sometimes silence is best though. And there have been times when I was so paranoid I couldn’t even listen to the radio without thinking it was masking sounds I needed to hear.

15) Do you miss your past?
Sometimes. But the past is gone except as memories.

16) Would you rather spend a day outside with friends or inside alone?
Umm… I’m really an indoor sort of girl, so it would have to be the right sort of outdoor activity. Horseback riding, amusement parks… those work.

17) Were you happy when you woke up?
Pretty happy. The cats have been very nice about not waking me up when they would normally bug Alan to feed them at 4:30 AM.

18) Do you want to go to sleep right now?
No.

19) Are you one of those people who just don’t care?
No, I’m a worrier. It’s hard to be a worrier and not care at the same time. Of course, I only worry about the things that matter to me.

20) Do you break things when you are mad?
I have in the past, but usually I just want to break myself.

21) What was the first thing you thought about when you woke up?
What I had to do today and how much writing I needed to get done.

22) Are you someone who worries too often?
Oooooh yes.

23) Could things possibly get any better?
This is not Candide… It is not the best of all possible worlds. Of course things could get better, but they’re pretty good now.

24) How did you get your last bruise?
I dropped the pizza stone and it banged my shin on its way to the floor.

25) Have you ever been around someone who was high?
Hehe… oh yeah. I’ve even been high with them. Hell, my friend Danny was almost constantly high back in high school.

26) What time will you be getting up tomorrow morning?
6:30… I’m trying to get back into the gym habit and I don’t want to sacrifice too much writing time to do it.

27) Are you taller than the last person you kissed?
The last person I’ve kissed for the past seven years is 6’4" so no. Chris was shorter than me, but the last time I kissed him was probably winter of my sophomore year of college.

28) Would you ever get a noticeable tattoo?
I intend to. I want to get a bird in flight behind my left ear and a word in Elvish on each wrist.

29) Are you wearing shoes?
I’m wearing slippers and socks.

30) What is the temperature?
It was chilly this morning, but the sun’s out and there isn’t much wind so it might be in the upper 40’s by now.

31) Have you ever felt like you weren’t good enough?
Who hasn’t really?

32) Did you have a weird dream last night?
Yes, but now I can’t remember it at all.

33) What do you really think of Starbucks Coffee?
I don’t drink coffee as a general rule, but I do like their chai latte.

34) Anywhere you’d rather be right now?
Not really, although I could use a more comfy chair.

35) Could you go a day without eating?
I don’t think so. I tend to feel sick if I go too long without eating and I always eat breakfast.

36) Does anyone love you?
Yes! Alan and my parents for sure, Lisa and Kurt and Zach hopefully. Alan’s grandparents and mine. My aunts and uncles. My friends. Maybe the kids in my class if they remember me.

37) Do you get bad mood swings?
::shudders:: You don’t even want to know. Classic bipolar disorder type 1 coupled with a nasty temper inherited from my father… It gets ugly sometimes. Fortunately, I have remained symptom-free since going off my medication.

38) Ever feel alone, even in crowded rooms?
Probably more in crowded rooms than when I’m by myself. In a crowd, loneliness is just compounded.

39) Are any parts of your body sore?
My butt hurts from sitting in this chair typing for so long. And yet what do I do when I hit my next writing goal? Come on here and type some more.

40) Can something last forever?
Well, taking into consideration conservation of mass, yes. Everything exists that could ever exist and will continue existing in some form, even if that form is energy. Which is why I believe in reincarnation. Because all that electric energy in our brains has to go somewhere, right? We are more than the sum of our parts.

41) Do you listen to music everyday?
In some form, yes, even if it’s just whatever happens to be on the radio.

42) Is anything bothering you?
I’m behind on my NaNo novel and I’m having sexual fantasies about my brother-in-law.

43) What will you do this Sunday?
Go grocery shopping, cook dinner, relax.

44) Are you starting to realize anything?
Life is messy, complicated, ugly, and sublimely beautiful. Oh wait, I knew that already.

45) Who was the last person that made you cry, why?
I can’t even think who’s made me cry. I cry at USAA ads. LOL… they’re just a really annoying reminder that Alan will eventually be deploying and I won’t see him for a year.

46) Have you ever fallen down stairs?
Yes, but I fall up them more often.

47) Who knows a secret about you that no one else knows?
You guys, to be honest, so it’s not much of a secret.

48) Is the last person you hugged older than you?

Alan is a year and a half younger than me. What can I say? I like younger guys. With a couple exceptions, everyone I’ve dated has been my age or younger.

49) Are you nervous about anything?
Not really. I’m nervous that I won’t finish my NaNo novel this year, but I think I can be caught up in a few days if I write triple what I should every day.

50) What is one question people always ask you?
"How’s your writing going?"

51) Name something you have to do tonight.
Unload the dishwasher

52) Has anyone told you a secret this week?
No.

I do enjoy surveys 🙂 For years, I wanted to have a boy; then for years I was convinced I never wanted kids; now, I want a girl. Although, part of me still wonders what the hell I’m thinking wanting a kid at all. 🙂 Four years of working at Babies R Us was fantastic birth control.
