Something in the Air
Could it be spring?
According to the thermometer in the window, it’s in the mid 50’s already. The 8 inches of snow we had at the beginning of the week is melting in buckets. And I’ve revamped my diary… always a sure sign of shifting seasons. ^_^ And I’d like to take this opportunity to call everyone’s attention to my front page. I know most people don’t look at them, but I just posted a really good video that everyone should watch. It’s a music video, but it was shot in a single take, and it’s just really impressive. The song is David Ford’s "Go to Hell," and if you’ve never heard of him, now you have and you should check out his music. If you’re on dial-up (like me) it takes awhile to load because it’s long, but it’s worth it. It makes me happy.
And I need some happy right now. Our landlord left a note stuck in our door indicating that we owe him almost two thousand dollars. Umm… excuse me? I don’t know where Alan has put the actual note at the moment, but it according to him we never paid in December, paid in incomplete installments in January, and still owe for February somehow. Now, I trust Alan. He tells me when he screws up with money or forgets to pay by a couple days. And since the money is not in Alan’s accounts and we haven’t accumulated any new stuff recently, I’m willing to back him on this 100%. Now, our landlords are not the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. And they recently went to Italy with the instructions that we were to give the check for the rent to their son. Alan did so. Not to mention the fact that we just gave them another check last week (at which point they said nothing about this supposedly outstanding debt). Now, their son claims Alan never gave it to him. Oh, and did I mention that he has the same name as his father? Now, either both Alan and his bank accounts are lying or Little Mike is a big fat thief and his parents are big fat idiots. I’m sorry, but it’s way more likely that the kid cashed the check himself than that the bank made multiple mistakes that just happen to coincide with our rent payments.
At any rate, I’m sick of this level of stupidity, so Alan and I are on the lookout for a new apartment. Alan suggested that we offer to move in with my grandmother down in Norwalk, his rationale being that she’s old and we could look out for her while paying very little rent. I like the apartment, but I’m not to keen on living with her. I like the privacy we have here. It’s not perfect, but there’s very little chance of our neighbors walking in unannounced just for a visit. If we did that we’d have to establish some very clear ground rules. And it would be such a long commute for both of us, especially when you add in the fact that all our "couple" friends are up this way. I’d rather try to find something around here. Milford, Orange, West Haven, or New Haven. Preferably with two bedrooms (in case we’re not in a house-buying position before we start a family) and definitely pet-friendly. Once I start working again, we can actually afford something pretty decent I think.
And I will be working soon. Huge sigh of relief right there. Next Thursday and Friday I’ll be going in from 4-6 pm, and the following Monday I’ll start from 9-5:30. It’s not the schedule we talked about originally, but if that’s when they need me, I don’t care, as long as I get started. And that shift gives me mornings to work out anyway. So it’s all good. And this week I can start getting myself used to that schedule, getting up earlier and all that. Figuring out how long I’ll need for the gym and showering and such like.
I like having my days to do with as I will, but I need to work. Even if Alan could support us easily, I’d probably still work part-time or at least volunteer. I do get bored sitting around. Still, this extra bit of time before I start working will be put to good use. I’ve got some crafting to do. ::shiftyeyes:: It’s a secret.
^_^ Anyway, time to get going. Bank, groceries, and home. My life is so full. Hehehe.

That’s crazy. Stupid landlord’s son -_- Ugh. I changed my diary layout, too, hehe. Yay spring! ^_^ I completely agree – if Brian could support us, I would still work part time just to have something to do. I’m so glad you’re starting soon! *huge hugs* ~*Stephanie*~

Order your cashed check copies from the bank, photocopy both sides and give them to your landlord. Keep the note as well. I have a feeling when you move out, you will also be getting the short end of the stick in regards to your damage deposit.
