Productivity
Every muscle in my body is screaming right now. Why? Because I spent all day yesterday painting the bathroom. It’s not like it’s a huge room, but it is a challenge. The house our apartment is in is quite old (we have the remnants of gas jets in every room). Indoor plumbing hadn’t quite made it’s way into the walls yet, so the pipes are all out there for anyone to see. So they all had to be painted too. And the little spaces behind them where neither rollers nor brushes really fit. Plus we have a claw foot tub, that I like more in theory than in practice because the of the many metal rods coming out from the walls and down from the ceiling to hang the many shower curtains required. And a pedestal sink. In other words, lots of little nooks and crannies to get behind. Fortunately, when we were painting the kitchen, Alan bought a really skinny roller that we never ended up using… Perfect for the space behind the bathtub. Oh! And did I mention that at some point or another, the bathroom had two outside walls? So it has a window that’s been dry-walled over, creating even more nooks and crannies. And of course, someone dry-walled over the actual outside wall, but naturally did a shite job of it, so there’s all kinds of strange gaps and whatnot. Very complicated.
And when I had done the first coat on the walls, the ceiling looked so crappy that I had to paint that too. Ever stand on a chair in a bathtub? Rather frightening.
But I finished! So go me! I cleaned the shower curtains, mopped the floor, and cleaned the mirror and the window, including the hideous blinds (I’m never having blinds in my own house). I still have to hang up the shower curtains, but for right now I’m enjoying how bright it is in there without them. See, the tub is right in front of the window. The blinds usually stay closed, but since it’s not good to shower for 24 hours in a freshly painted bathroom, the curtains are down and the blinds are open.
And not only did I finished almost everything before Alan got home, I made a killer roast beef. Really juicy and tender, and I’m very proud of myself because I’d never made roast beef before.
Two more days until my birthday. Really, I’m hardly thinking of it. It seems to have come up so suddenly this year. And to be honest, I’m more focused on the fact that two of my closest friends are getting married… One in just a little over two months. There’s parties to attend, presents to buy (or make?), alterations to do, and appointments to make. Phew! May 2nd seems very close indeed. Then there’s only 6 months until Jen’s wedding! On the bright side, I found the perfect "me" hairstyle for Lisette’s wedding, especially now that my hair is shorter and virtually impossible to wrestle into a ponytail, let alone an updo.
I got some bunches of little tiny calla lilies to put in, so I think it’ll be a great success. But I think I am going to have to make an appointment at a salon. It’s not easy to get those curls in the back so that I’m sure the bobby pins are covered.
Anyway, I suppose it’s time to get my butt in gear. I have dishes to do from last night when I was too frickin’ exhausted to even think about them and watched "The Producers" instead. So funny.
Toodles!

That’s a gorgeous hair style! Painting the bathroom sounds like a lot of work. I have to paint ours sometime in the near future, and I’m not looking forward to it.
