Nesting Instinct

I wrote yesterday that I would post some pictures of our apartment now that we’re all settled in and unpacked and sorted out. So here they are.

This is the living room seen from the dining room. Still the same crummy futon, but it does have the advantage that I can change the sheet when I want a new look. I managed to browbeat Alan into getting a cat palm, but only if I let him choose a planter. He saw the tote bag idea on one of his website and did all the work himself. It’s cool, cheap, and really easy to move around with the handles. And look! I’m watching "My Fair Wedding." Notice the Sad Keanu cut-out on top of the TV and the adorably fat kitty.

Another view of the living room. Our bookshelves and DVD towers are packed.

This is our bedroom.

The next two are views of the second, smaller bedroom that will eventually be a nursery, but for now is serving as guest room, craft closet, and music room.

Three views of the kitchen. Ignore the dishes in the sink. Alan didn’t empty the dishwasher.

And finally, the dining room. There’s not much to show there, mostly because I have a jigsaw puzzle laid out on the table, so it’s a bit messy and I didn’t take a picture of it. But I will show off our art, which Alan is very proud of because he chose it himself and bought it at a store nearby. It’s a Shepard Fairey print.

Now that I’m looking at a photo of it, that dresser/ sideboard really needs a coat of paint. And that little Ikea wine rack needs some wine. I am glad I can show off that bowl though. My great-aunt gave it to me for a bridal shower gift and I really love it. I just haven’t had anywhere to put it up till now.

So that’s the grand tour. Exciting, huh?

I’ve started cutting up my meds. Lamictal has a big advantage over other pills in that respect, because it actually can be cut up and because there’s no "weaning" time. I only really need to see how my moods react to the change. I’ve been looking into some homeopathic treatments and most of them are safe for pregnancy. Hell, one of the biggest mood enhancers is fish oil and that’s an important prenatal supplement anyway. So that’s kind of awesome. I’m really hoping it doesn’t take long to get pregnant. I’d like a late June/early July baby. Pisces and Cancer get along very well.  ^_^ Wow… two updates in such a short amount of time! I must be bored.

I love your apartment, it looks really cozy and comfortable, and very inviting. I especially love the packed bookshelves, I could spend hours browsing other peoples’ bookshelves. I also like your bed, and bedspread, it looks really nice without being overly fussy.
