My Triumphant Return!
To the kitchen, that is. I finally got fed up with the computer in the living room. It was giving me agita having it look so cluttered. So Alan replaced the sketchy outlet in the kitchen with one that doesn’t have to be finessed into working properly. A little extension cord and the computer and its associated bits and bobs are all plugged in again. It’s not ideal — The outlet is halfway up the wall, right above the dining table. It’s ugly and a great temptation for kittenish claws, but it works for now. There’s still no sign of our downstairs neighbors. Actually, I take that back. Some mysterious someone brought their garbage cans out to the curb yesterday afternoon, and a car pulled up earlier tonight and someone picked up some mail. Alan’s started to wonder how long it’ll be before all their stuff disappears. Apparently he saw the cable truck there a couple days ago, too, so who knows how many bills they’ve let go unpaid over the last few months.
Of course, I said from Day One (that would be Tuesday) that they would probably try to skip out on everything. Hmm.
Alan and I have had a very productive day. We went to Sears and got our pictures done, for one thing. I wasn’t overly impressed, but we basically only paid for the sitting fee because we only bought the CD and Alan gets a discount. We’ve gone through the poses and I’ve fiddled with a couple of them in PhotoShop. I think I’ve come up with a pretty good picture, so those of you on my Christmas card list should be looking for that soon. (And if you’re not on my Christmas card list, why the hell not? Leave me a note about it if you want to be sure) We’ll probably take it to Target to get them printed because that’s where we bought the cards and they came with a photo printing coupon. WooHoo! I think I’ll get more cards too. There are a few more people I’d like to send cards to this year.
In addition to our adventure into the realm of commercial portraits in the holiday season (a little terrifying), we traipsed down to Norwalk to Jerry’s Artarama (formerly Art Supply Warehouse), where (miracle of miracles) they actually sell archival quality storage boxes. With that and a few yards of unbleached muslin, my wedding dress is happily packed away without the risk of damage and yellowing that comes with some of the more mainstream "preservation" services. The boxed up dress is now resting happily atop our other things in storage.
Also in storage is another load of stuff from the living room closet. The damn thing looks so much better now that I’m tempted to just stand there with the door open, basking in its closety goodness. We also picked up our Christmas decorations while we were there. I’m looking forward to having a real tree this year. That should confuse both of the cats!
Anyway, Alan is watching "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead," which is always amusing. I think I’ll join him. ^_^

I love getting little things like that accomplished. It makes me feel good ^^ I’ll probably mail out my Christmas/holiday cards next week (when I can buy a book of stamps, lol). Be on the lookout! ^_^ ~*Stephanie*~
