It’s a….
… GIRL!
Apparently three lines like that means girl. Someone on a baby board said that on ultrasounds, girls look like hamburgers and boys look like turtles. Highly scientific. According to Heidi, who does the ultrasounds, "I don’t see any little boy parts." LOL
Both baby and I are doing very well. Despite my lack of sleep my blood pressure was back down to what I consider an acceptable level: 116/77. The baby was doing a lot of kicking and wiggling, which is a good thing and made the ultrasound go pretty fast. And of course, I’m relieved that all is right with the world. The midwife gave me a support belt thing to wear when I’m walking or doing anything strenuous. Just putting it on in her office helped a lot. It looks ridiculous of course, but better to look funny than to be in pain.
I have a couple more pictures from the ultrasound, too. The first one is the baby’s profile (Aww! She looks just like me! :P).
And this one is a view sort from the baby’s belly up. You can see her round torso, hands on either side and that big black space is a her yawning. But it’s such a happy looking yawn, like "Hi Mom!"
She got some pretty creepy shots of the bones of the skull too, but she didn’t print them. They were really awesome though. Baby Bean is measuring at 21 weeks and 2 days, which is about 5 days ahead of schedule. Not enough to change the due date, but enough to make me hope that she comes on February 29th. LOL
Anyway, that’s the update. Parents are all excited of course and Alan has said that he needs to start shopping for a shotgun.

RYN: I have Desperation from the library, so I plan to read it soon. My step-dad said they could be read independently and that he liked The Regulators better. I’m interested to see how they work together, though.

Be sure to tell her that if she was a boy she’d have grown up to be called Hunter Thompson. She should know that, that’s a cool thing to say about yourself at parties. It’s a girl! So you’ll be a mother instead of a father, finally you know!

Yay! That’s so exciting! I’ve never heard the hamburger and turtle analogy before. But with all of my kids’ ultrasounds their gender was pretty hard to miss.

RYN: Haha, it does feel like we’re negotiating a peace treaty 🙂
