Girl Names
Alan and I are still arguing over names for a girl. I finally pestered him enough last night that we came up with a list of those that he "might" like. The problem is that one day he’ll decide he doesn’t really like a name, then two days later when i try to bring up names again, he’ll "What happened to…?" He’s also still dead set against using a family name for a middle name, but I personally hate names that don’t mean anything.
So this is our current list, in no particular order… or rather, Alan’s Maybe List: (I’d love some feedback!)
Gwen
Pippa
Kirsten/Kiersten (haven’t decided on pronunciation or spelling yet)
Mischa
Tricia
Natalie
Olivia
Aimee
Mila (he actually dismissed this one from my list earlier, but seems to have decided that Milla Jovovich and Mila Kunis are both hot, so it’s back in)
Emma
Rachel
And on my list of names I really wish he liked and will still try to argue onto his list:
Anika
Mina
Tessa
Ferris
Devi
I realize that the last two are a bit "out there" for some people. Ferris, although a boy’s name, has a more feminine sound to me, since "fair" is typically associated with beauty and "ess" is a traditionally female ending. Devi is pronounced DEY-vee, not DEH-vee, and means "goddess."
Anyway, the NT scan didn’t go well because Jumping Bean was not jumping and was generally being very uncooperative about turning over into a position where Heidi the ultrasound tech could actually measure the back of the neck. Heartbeat was 169 bpm though, which is good to know. I think Bean got revenge for being poked with an ultrasound wand by kicking me in the intestines later and giving me some serious stomach cramps. I’m not too worried about the scan though. I think it’s unlikely that Bean will have any chromosomal anomalies, since they’re not at all common in my family. There will be blood tests later on anyway, and it doesn’t change whether or not I have this baby.
I did read an awfully nasty comment on one of the baby boards yesterday. A woman was upset because she came back positive for carrying the Cystic Fibrosis gene mutation. The third or fourth comment down was that if her husband has it too the baby will definitely have CF and most babies born with CF don’t live past their first year. How nasty is that? Especially since it’s just plan wrong! Even if her husband does carry the gene, the chances of their child having Cystic Fibrosis is 1 in 4 and most people with CF live full and happy lives. I thought that was just really cruel.
And I have to admit that Lisa was right. Apparently Bill called her yesterday morning and told her that he was praying to God that the baby would be born on March 7th, Alan’s father’s birthday. Crazy superstitious man. Fortunately, I think it’s more likely to be early than late since they’ve pushed my due date from the 8th to the 4th and the baby is looking to be just over 13 weeks now, which would technically make the due date March 1st. I was also about two weeks early. Maybe I should have Alan explain that to him.
Anyway, we’re having dinner at the Faulk’s tonight, so I should probably get around to washing the shirt I wanted to wear… not to mention my hair. It’s been so nice this week that I almost don’t want to jinx it. Stupid unpredictable curls.

Found you on the main page this morning. I like Devi too. There is a new artist she just goes by DEV its unique and cute. Out of your maybe list I would say Gwen or Olivia. Picking a name isn’t easy. when I picked my daughters name I didn’t know anyone with that name and hadn’t heard it that often. Turned out in the year she was born it was 8th highest girls name. Once I picked the name I started

gearing the name everywhere I ment. Her name is Alexis and now she is 12 and goes by Lexi. Her middle name is Michelle I name after a person that is very special to me. I don’t see anything wrong with giving a child a name that has some kind of family meaning. Good luck to you

Haha, I like Rachel, too 🙂 Actually, Pippa is my favorite with Olivia and Mina close seconds.

I like Emma and my second choice would be Zoe. I wouldn’t swap my own name, which is highly unusual, for the world.

How about “Lady Macbeth”?

I like Gwen and Natalie a lot. But Tessa is a cool name as well. I think people posting nasty comments like that on people’s posts are just wrong. What is wrong with people now-a-days? Ok I’m playing catch up on your entries. I like Gwen Kirsten/Kierstyn, and Tessa. Natalie, Emma, Olivia and Rachel are also good solid names but they are really popular, so I’d avoid them if that’s an issue for you. I think we actually have both our names picked out, unless David changes his mind.
