Alphabet Survey E-K

E is for ears.

Have you ever had anything stuck in your ear? Not that I’m aware of.

How is your hearing? Mediocre… It’s not bad and I’ve never had a problem on hearing tests, but sometimes it’s hard for me to hear certain movies.

Do you know anyone who is hard of hearing? My dad… he’s a great cautionary tale for ear protection at the rifle range.

Do you know anyone who is deaf? Not personally, but I knew a couple girls in high school who had an older sister who was deaf. They and their mother all knew sign language.

Would you like to learn American Sign Language? It might be interesting, but it’s not way up there on my list of things to learn.

Do you have your ears pierced? Yep… actually there are relatively few holes in my body. I used to have three piercings in each ear.

F is for fitness.

Are you a member to a gym? Technically, yes, but that gym is in Connecticut. Our apartment complex has a fitness center though. And there’s a pretty popular gym in town that has a salt-water pool that I’d really love to try. I need to boost my salinity!

How often do you work out? A couple times a week maybe, but I’m really trying to get better about it.

Is your job physically demanding? I’m not working, so no. But child wrangler is very physically demanding.

Do you like to work out? I actually kind of do. I especially like the results. I’m just so lazy lately.

How healthy do you eat? So-so. I try to eat healthy, but I slip, especially with sweets. And butter.

Is fitness important to you? Moderately. I’m not obsessed, but I probably should be.

G is for genealogy.

What are the names of your grandmas? Courtenay DeSaussure and Elizabeth MacKenzie Bricker

What about your grandpas? Addison Willis Austin and William Reed Taylor

Did anyone in the past five generations of your family immigrate or emigrate? Five generations? Seriously? Yes, somewhere in the last 150 years, someone in my family came here from somewhere else. Specifically, I believe a great-great grandfather came here from Ireland.

How far back do you know your family history? Family lore on both sides claims to go back to the Mayflower and there is some fairly good documentation for some branches

Does anyone in your family track your genealogy? My mother’s cousin Stevie has traced their family back to Scotland and my grandmother takes family very seriously.

What country/countries do your ancestors come from? England, France, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Wales, and Switzerland.

H is for hygiene.

How hygienic would you say you are? Fairly hygienic, though perhaps less than some people.

How often do you wash your hair? Once or twice a week.

How often do you shower? Generally every day. Maybe once a week I’ll skip a day.

Do your siblings have good hygiene? I don’t have any siblings, so no.

Are you always worried about germs? I am rarely, if ever worried about germs.

Do you know anyone who has just terrible hygiene? I make fun of Alan’s friend, Tim, for not showering, but he’s gotten a lot better.

I is for ice cream.

What kind of ice cream is your favorite? Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra

What toppings do you like to put on your ice cream? If I get an ice cream cone I’ll get sprinkles (and I have never called them "jimmies.")

Do you prefer ice cream or sorbet? Ice cream

What is your least favorite flavor of ice cream? Are there bad flavors of ice cream? Maybe strawberry.

Where is the best place to get ice cream? Scoops in Wilton or Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk.

What is your best friends favorite type of ice cream? Alan likes pretty much any kind of ice cream.

J is for jokes.

Who is your favorite comedian? I’m not sure I have a favorite. I like Bill Engvall.

Who is the worst comedian, in your opinion? I don’t know. I don’t watch enough comedy to really care about these things.

What is your favorite joke? "Repaint! And thin no more." That’s just the punchline. It’s a totally clean joke and it always makes me laugh.

Are you the funny one out of your friends? We’re all kind of funny. I’m the one with the little one-liners and side comments, but with some of my friends, we get into these crazy fits of laughter and just can’t stop.

When was the last time you laughed really hard? Alan said something over the weekend and it absolutely cracked me up… I can’t even remember what it was now.

Who can always make you laugh? Alan

K is for keyboards.

What color is your computer keyboard? Black… same as the rest of the computer. It is a laptop after all.

What color do you wish your computer keyboard was? This is fine. Although it’s shiny so it shows fingerprints really well.

Does your cell phone have a qwerty keyboard? Yes it does… that was one of my requirements when I bought it.

Would you like to learn to play the piano? I can, at least a little.

Have you ever used a wireless keyboard? Maybe… it’s not something I was aware of at the time if I did. I’ve never sat down and said "Ooooo! Wireless keyboard."
