40 Songs & 40 Questions

The Questions:
1. Which song do you prefer, #1 or #40? Definitely #1. While I enjoy Rancid, it’s not something I can listen to whenever. I kind of have to be in the right mood. The Beatles are always good.
2. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat? Yes, actually. I was trying to memorize the words and singing along.
3. What album is #26 from? Broadcast to the World. Not my favorite Zebrahead album.
4. What do you think about the artist who did #15? Aerosmith. Great artist with great stamina. They change their sound to fit the times but they are always quintessentially Aerosmith.
5. Is #19 one of your favorite songs? Not at all.
6. Who does #38 remind you of? It reminds me of Ashley, a girl I worked with at Bright Horizons. We had similar tastes in music and I was listening to a lot of emo/punk/pop-punk when I walked at Old Mine Park and we often ran into each other on the walking trails on our lunch breaks.
7. Does #20 have better lyrics or music? Better lyrics. What I like about Owl City is how simple and pretty the melodies are.
8. Do any of your friends like #3? Probably quite a few of them, since it seems like most of my friends are or were Linkin Park fans at the time Meteora came out.
9. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack? I suppose it might be on a soundtrack somewhere, but not in the general way.
10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio? Definitely not. I’ve heard it on the radio, but it’s such a rare occurrence that I always notice.
11. What does #21 remind you of? Driving around with Alan (the Parrot Head in the house), especially in the summer.
12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22? Well, Shakira is a lot more mainstream than the Les Miserables soundtrack, especially since "Prologue" is basically a medley of all the songs in it.
13. What album is #17 from? "And Out Come the Wolves…" by Rancid
14. When did you first hear #39? When I transferred it from the old computer to this one.
15. When did you first hear #7? Probably when the album first came out sometime when I was in high school, but I really can’t remember.
16. What genre is #8? Zebrahead is sort of hard to define. It has elements of punk, metal, and rap. So yeah. Those. And it’s definitely in the alternative column too.
17. Do any of your friends like #14? I’m willing to bet Miss Mandy likes it, because I know she likes Les Miserables, but otherwise, there probably aren’t many. My mom would like it.
18. What color does #4 remind you of? Maybe a bright turquoise blue. At any rate, it has to be bright. It is pop-punk.
19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo? Definitely!
20. What genre is #37? It’s a soundtrack and leans on the classical side of musical theater. Is musical theater a genre? It should be anyway.
21. Can you play #13 on any instrument? No, but I could probably pick it out on the piano or keyboard if I tried.
22. What is your favorite lyric from #30? "Just like a knight in shining armor from a long time ago. Just in time I’ll save the day, take you to my castle far away."
23. What is your favorite lyric from #23? I don’t know it well enough. Long Beach Dub Allstars are more Alan’s taste than mine.
24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends? Yeah, I would. I’ve always really enjoyed Barenaked Ladies and I really love that whole album
25. Is #2 a good song to dance to? No, it’s pretty slow and sweet.
26. Do you ever hear #16 on the radio? I’m not sure I’ve heard any Flogging Molly on the radio.
27. Is #32 more of a "nighttime" or "daytime" song? I think of it as a daytime song now because I listen to a lot of pop-punk when I work out, but I used to use that kind of up-tempo song to get me psyched up for nights out in college.
<p style="font-family:Verdana; font-size: 13px;”>28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you? Not at all.
29. Do any of your friends like #31? I’m not sure any of my friends like Cat Stevens. Ian might, but I hardly talk to him these days except on Facebook. My parents both like it.
30. Is #25 a fast or slow song? Fast!
31. Is #35 a happy or sad song? It’s less sad than it is angry at the direction the world is going. It’s definitely not happy.
32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9? "One thing I can tell you is you got to be free."
33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends? Friends, I suppose. It reminds me of being in the car with Alan and Tim.
34. When did you first hear #27? Sometime around forever ago. LOL… In high school I guess and possibly the first year I went to Ozzfest. I’m pretty sure Rob Zombie was there that year.
35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29: "Oh Danny Boy," "My Lagan Love," and "She Moved Through the Fair"
36. Do you know all the words to #6? Only when I’m singing along to it.
37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music? It’s an entirely beautiful song, but the lyrics are just wonderful.
38. What album is #10 from? "When the World Comes Down" by The All-American Rejects
39. Which song is better to work out to #13 or #38? Both are pretty good for a work-out, but I have to go with MEST. Much peppier.
40. Of these 40 songs, which is your favorite? Tough call, but I think "Angry Johnny" by Poe. She harkens back to the days of strong, kick-ass female singer-songwriters and her lyrics are frickin’ awesome.
