Windy Walk

I wanted to do another entry from a prompt, but I don’t like the ones for today.  I went back a few days to see if there was anything I wanted to do instead.  There wasn’t.  I guess we’ll just have to see about tomorrow.

Pi has to work on Thursday, which is both okay and crappy.  It’s okay because he’ll be getting seven extra hours, some of which will be overtime.  Also, that’s seven hours more of tips.  With Christmas coming up, and Pi’s speeding ticket, that money is really going to be helpful.  It’s crappy because Thursday is the only day that we both have off.  We like to do our errands and spend time with one another.  It’s the only day that we get to be a family.  Also, it’ll mean that he has to work Wednesday to Monday, and Tuesday he’ll have the baby, which isn’t much of a day off.  (By that I mean it’s hard work chasing Tots all day, but he likes it.)

We got to visit our friend Steele today.  He’s been working a lot, and his cellphone situation has been on and off.  He invited us over for a movie and chips and salsa.  Though we miss him, I was a little antsy about going over there with Tots because I didn’t want him to wreck Steele’s room.  And it’s not like Steele will get mad, I just didn’t want to have to keep my eye on the little guy the whole time.

Turns out, everything was fine.  We watched City Island.  We liked it.  It was a light comedy about a corrections officer who feels he has to hide going to acting classes from his family.  There’s more to it than that, but I recommend it.  Tots did get a whole bunch of blue corn tortilla chips all over the place, but Steele really didn’t care.  It was good to go somewhere different for at least a little while.  It’s always nice hanging out with Steele.  Tots fell asleep in the car on the way home, but it was past his bedtime.

Today, Tots and I went for a long walk, almost an hour.  When we get to an intersection, I tell Tots that we have to stop and look around for any cars coming.  It’s funny when he says, "SOP!"  Then I let him pick which direction he wants to go in.  It’s fun exploring the neighborhood, especially because you see so much more walking than in the car.  It was so windy out!  Tots liked it, though.  It builds and it gets louder and more and more blustery.  He puts on a special little smile when it gets like that.  He started saying the word puddle after he stepped in a deep one.  After that, every time there was a puddle on the sidewalk, he would say, "puh-ull!"  It was cute.

It’s been outrageously windy here, too. We lost power yesterday for a few hours. I love hearing all the new words Tots is picking up. Isn’t it great? You’ll be glad a few weeks from now to have put in the extra work, and gotten that money. It’s worth it. You guys don’t do it all the time.
