Goodnight
We’ve had a routine for the nights I work for a while. Either Pi picks me up or I drive home, but we always coordinate it so that Tots will fall asleep in the car. That way I can just toss him into bed without fuss when I get home.
Lately, Tots has been awake after the car ride. Pi suspects that he stays awake so that he can see me before he goes to sleep. I got home a minute or so before they did, got my stuff into the house, and came back out to get Tots. He’s wide awake smiling at me.
"Hi, Mommy. Did you get out of work? Did you get out of work, Mommy?"
"Yes, I did."
"Are you home? Did you come home?"
"Yes, we’re all home now, baby."
As I’m taking him out of his seat, he asks, "Where are we going, Mommy?"
"We’re going inside."
"Oh, okay. That’s great. Where are we going?"
"We’re going inside."
"Oh, okay. Mommy…where are we going?"
"We’re going to bed."
"I want to sleep in the big bed."
"That’s where we’re going."
"I don’t want the band aid. I don’t like the band aid."
"You don’t have to have one anymore. Your boo boo is all better."
"Okay, Mommy. I..I..I don’t like the band aid."
"Goodnight, Tots."
"Goodnight, Mommy."
"I love you."
"I love you, too, Mommy."
As much as I would like to be able to have an easy night, and not have to put him to bed, I guess there are perks.
Your guy is awesome!
