Getting Chores Done

I had a dream that I asked my mom to come up and wash my dishes.  When I woke up, I still had a sinkful.  What a disappointment!  Later, she came up to see Tots and I washed my dishes.  Kind of funny, maybe.

Sometimes I get the Munster theme song in my head, like right now.

I got a lot of stuff done today, which was awesome.  First thing, we went to the bank and did a couple of other errands.  When we got home, I prepared a bunch of stuff for yet another dump run.  My house has collected almost two years of packaging, boxes, plastic grocery bags, junk mail, grocery store circulars.  I got rid of a box and two big bags of recycling, a big old stinky bag of kitchen garbage, a smallish bag of bathroom garbage and a bunch of cardboard.  It was quite the load, and it made me happy.  Ah, the little joys of life.

Pi has been talking about cleaning the computer room for a while, but he said that when he gets home, he’s just so tired.  So, when we got back from the dump, I tackled it.  It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought.  Now, in place of the mess, there is a bag of returnables, a bag of garbage and a bag of recycling, with a bunch of cleared floorspace.  Looks like somebody is going for another dump run in the near future.  I also found a bunch of "missing" toys, so Tots enjoyed playing with them while I cleaned.

A friend of mine gave Tots a little Lego car a while back.  I found it today during my cleaning spree.  He likes to take it apart to that there is a bottom part with wheels and the top part of the car.  If he accidentally fits the two together, he hands them to me saying, "Fixy?"  He likes having them be two "cars".  I don’t know if I explained that right, but if you got it, you can kind of see how cute it is.

I also started cleaning the kitchen table and part of the floor.  I’ve almost filled my recycling box back up just with all the papers from the table.  Little by little, I’m taking my house back from clutter.  I like living in a clean house, but I have only so much motivation to start.  Once I get going, though, I’m a cleaning machine.

Tots is in bed, with only minimal crying, about a minute.  I’ve completed another entry for NaJoMo, and now I’m going to do something mindless for a while.

lol try this, on a lazy day, but a huge bucket /bin in the sink, fill with sudzy water, soak all dishes long before getting ready to wash them. If you do not have a dishwasher, this method makes life easier and also makes dishwashing easier.

Motivation is key. I like to clean, but I like things really clean. But that’s tiring. So I really have to be in the mood and then I binge clean…

Yay! Good job. I used to really hate chores, but I hate clutter and gross mess more, so I got better at it! And we’ll just have to thing of something salty crunchy healthy he can munch on. You and your mom should pitch I and get a Costco membership together. I find I can buy things that are otherwise too expensive (like nuts) which would fit the bill and are really good to have in a veggiesaurus diet. Would he eat nuts?

What Pip said about binge cleaning…god that hits close to home *grins* I like reading your entries, even though they make me feel completely u productive by comparison. Your life sounds rich and amusing and I like hearing about it.

I meant UNproductive. Stupid iPhone and it’s little things I never notice unless AFTER I’ve sent it. Gah.
