Autism Awareness Day
Yesterday was Autism Awareness Day…Here is my Landon. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s when he was five years old. Asperger’s is a high functioning form of Autism. I don’t think they use that term anymore…they just say “on the autism spectrum”. I am proud of Landon and the things that he has accomplished.
Landon is cute! I have Aspergers as does Bees.
@juliebear Thank you :-). I didn’t realize who had Asperger’s too…y’all are some very special people!!

Landon is just so cute, a very handsome young man. How old is Landon?
@thebestisyettocome Thank you!! He just turned 19.
@wildrose_2 Landon mostly just likes to be at home, that’s where he is most comfortable. He is too attached to me and doesn’t do well when I have to go somewhere without him. He spends a lot of time playing on his tablet and phone and video games, but also loves putting together the big Lego kits. He’s very good at doing that. He didn’t do well in school and is still at probably a third grade level. I tried hard to teach him, he just doesn’t understand. He has no interest in driving, which is fine since he wouldn’t be able to pass the driver’s test anyway. He likes routine and doesn’t like when it’s broken. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any friends other than his cousins because he doesn’t have anything in common with people his own age and it would be weird for him to hang out with kids he does have things in common with. He likes to collect things and has way too much stuff in his room. He’s into Roblox and Animal Crossing (I think that’s the name of it). He doesn’t sleep well and stays up all night many nights.
@happyathomeLandon and my nephew share some of the same characteristics. My nephew stays in his room most of the time playing video games, is known to stay up all night and sleep all day, barely passed high school, and he really has no friends.
@thebestisyettocome Landon didn’t pass high school. He was in special ed and even then is only functioning at a grade school level. I tried so hard to teach him but it just wouldn’t stick. He can read so that’s very good but he just has no concept of math or money or even time.

He is a handsome young man. =)
@iowaladylovestheocean Thank you :-). He doesn’t think so and is very critical of himself. I wish he wouldn’t be so hard on himself.
