Homeless

It’s really strange to me when i’m seeing someone out there and we call them “homeless”. In my country, people from the outside, on the street, we don’t call them “homeless”, we call them “poor people”. But in the country when the winter is coming, we don’t actually feel cold, because it’s not cold. Maybe somedays, we just feel cool, a little bit and that’s it. But in this country, the winter is really “the winter”, the cold is coming and you will never want to feel it. I think because i’m from a country that the lowest temperature we got was just 20*C, can you emagine when you get outside and take around to see Chistmas lights but the temperature is 35-40*C, it was bad.

I’m Catholic, and the Christmas season is the greatest season to us. We will go outside, see the lights, have fun with friends and family, every Churchs in the area will turn the lights on. The people around the Church will open a small booth to sell things like foods, drinks and maybe use their house to be a parking for the motobike,… Everybody had fun.

This is my first Christmas at Texas. One day, when we stopped at the red light and my dad searched for some cents, he pulled down the window and gave it to a man, it’s freaking cold outside. ” Why they still out there when the weather is so cold like that?”, i asked him. And he said:’ they’re homeless”. Dad told me that:” Poor them, the weather is cold, we’re sitting in the car, warm and safe. But them…They don’t have a place to get home. So, we just helped them as best as we can, we don’t judge them why they have to be out there, we just need to help and pray for them”. That what he said to me.

I had a dream when i was a child, i saw an old lady had fallen down on the street and the only thing i could do was just standing there. Until now, i wish i can reverse the time to help her. I dreamed that i can build a house for all the eldest and poor people in my country, i just felt bad when i saw an old lady holded a lottery tickets and tried to sell it out before 4pm. Because after 4pm, all the lottery tickets they have, no longer valid.

Is it stupid when i still have that dream when i saw that man was standing on the street in the middle of the cold?
