My life since Corona started

Dec. 31, 2019: WHO says mysterious pneumonia sickening dozens in China

When I heard of this I paid no attention since it was happening in China and it didn’t sound so deadly. I figured there was no reason to worry.

Jan. 11, 2020: China reports 1st novel coronavirus death

Still not a hugely concerned.

Jan. 21, 2020: 1st confirmed case in the United States

This got my attention. Now that it was in my State and close to home I started looking up all the current info I could find on the virus. Still, it was one person. Surely their quarantine will be take care of it quickly.

Jan. 23, 2020: China imposes strict lockdown in Wuhan

The US has done nothing.

Jan. 30, 2020: WHO declares global health emergency

The US still hasn’t taken any measures.

Feb. 5, 2020: Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined

Quite a shock. I worried for those on that ship. But didn’t think at all that we’d be in deeper trouble.

Feb. 11, 2020: Novel Coronavirus Renamed COVID-19

Feb. 26, 2020: 1st Case of Suspected Local Transmission in the United States

This got me scared. Could what happened in China happen here in the US if this isn’t controlled right away?

Feb. 29, 2020: 1st Death Reported in the United States

This is when the panic started. This virus is no joke.

March 3, 2020: CDC Lifts Restrictions for Virus Testing

This would have happened earlier if it was taken more seriously.

March 13, 2020: Trump declares a National Emergency and blocks most visitors from continental Europe.

People start buying in bulk out of fear. Toilet paper was bought out in lost stores all in one day.

March 15, 2020: CDC Warns against gatherings larger than 50 people for four weeks to prevent spread

This is when people’s lives start to be effected. My sister broke down into tears because she now had to cancel her wedding. Concerts, parties, dances etc… are all put to a stop.

March 24, The Olympics are postponed until 2021. All sports are cancelled.

March 26, The United States leads the world in the amount of confirmed cases of the virus.

March 30, more states order stay at home directives.

What started out as just news, turned into a nightmare. The world has shut down. Restaurants and stores are closed, parks are empty, streets are empty, nobody can work. No money is being made. Our economy is falling to pieces. People are separated from their families in order to keep them safe. Store shelves are empty. Everyone is afraid.

In WA state things are really screwed up. Governor Inslee mandated that unless you are an essential employee or you are going out for an essential errand that you must stay home. I don’t think anyone is doing harm as long as they are staying away from others. If I want to go for a run then I will! He also said that he is doing everything he can for small businesses, but that isn’t true. Many Small businesses that do not threaten the spread of covid-19 whatsoever are being told that they cannot run because they are non essential. Gardeners, sheet rock workers, welders, etc.. people who work by themselves outside or inside away from people are told they can’t work? While government funded construction is still going on. How does that make any sense? We need to keep as many people working as possible during this time! I’ve written to the governor twice and have not gotten a response, although I’m sure he’s getting lots of messages right now.  I just don’t believe what they are doing is right. It’s very wrong. At this point I think I’m going to try and get the local news involved. We need solid answers! 😡

It’s weird to say that a month ago our lives were normal, and now I feel like im in an episode of the twilight zone. It’s like a bad dream that I’m waiting to wake up from. I just started my relationship with Sam and thought we’d be going on dates and going to concerts and museums and all types of stuff. Now that might not happen until fall. We have to settle for movie nights and cooking and card games which is fine, but Um not used to that. Before this I was always going out and doing things! Concerts, parties, karaoke, etc… I have to say I’m a little depressed.

What a thing to experience in our lifetime. I just have to keep holding onto the belief that there is something good that’s going to come from all of this.
