mermaid for a day!

This whole weekend was sunny and beautiful and I was glad that I didn’t have to work most of it! On Saturday Rachel and I decided to head to the beach to just relax. We packed some ice tea, books, blankets, etc  and when we got there our conversation had somehow got to my sisters photography skills. We started thinking up some awesome ideas of what we could do while she was here and we thought about doing a fake clothing fashion spread shoot (  like what they do in vogue, seventeen, and other magazines) and thought that would be so cool! Then I said

"Oh my gosh, another thing we could do is we could both come back to this beach and be mermaids! Like put seaweed in our hair and shells and lay out on the sand!"

My sister looked at me and said "Well, it’s the perfect  lighting and we have time, why don’t we do it right now?"

a pause

"Uh..OKAY! YEAH!"

However Rachel didn’t want to be a model so It was only to be me in the pictures.

Now I know my sister is an artist with drawing, but I have come to see that she is an artist in every way! It’s like the way she sees the world is completely different from our own visions and she can morph it into whatever she pleases.

She had me lower my tank top down to where i was showing some cleavage so that when she shot me it would look like I had bare shoulders (as if i was topless). Then she tied seaweed in my hair and even wrapped it around a piece of driftwood that she put in my hair as well. Last but not least she put a small dried dead crab in my hair and it looked fricken awesome! I moved into the positions she wanted me to be in and let her put my hands where she wanted them, then sometimes did my own thing that she ended up liking. I felt like a real model haha. In the end the photos looked amazing as if they were actually done professionally.

She really knew what look she was going for and knows how to make someone look good on film! I really hope that she goes into that because she has the eye for it. Also for a lot of other things for that matter. She is great at putting outfits together, sewing cute dresses, drawing tatoos, beautiful pictures, or anything else for that matter, and painting as well! Sometimes I don’t think she sees how much talent and potential she has! She has so much to offer the world and I am so excited to see what career path she decides to take and where it will lead her! 🙂

Here are a few of the pictures from our shoot.
