i’ve got an audition!
Guess what? I have an audition this Saturday! Yay! I browsed what films were looking to cast people around my age on LA casting and submitted myself for a few. Then I got an alert the next day that I was wanted to audition for the role of traci in a student film called Leons Itch. All it said about the film and the character was this:
Synopsis
Leon is a sweet guy with a problem. He fetishizes violence and gruesome imagery. One night in front of all his friends, he succumbs to his lesser self. A farcical take on a dark and disturbing problem. A story of regression, and coping with innate conditioning.
Project Notes
Tone is Judd Apatow meets Silence of the Lambs.
Traci-
Must be able to jokingly simulate fellatio (not on or near another actor.)
Severely drunk and bleeding. She has no filter. Easily gets the funniest lines.
Before I actually submitted myself to audition for this film, I had to really think about it. Am I ready or comfortable enough to do something like that? I decided yes. I want to challenge myself and I need the audition experience. Plus I need to start making my reel! So I confirmed my audition for 4:15 this Saturday at the location they gave me. I hope that I do well! I am going to show up early so that hopefully I will have more time to look at my lines since I am pretty sure this will be a cold read!
Other than that, I have some assignments to do on Objectives and Obsticles for my acting class. Learning about Objectives really motivated me. It was one thing that I had not learned from Tim Hagan, my previous acting coach, and im surprised that he didn’t teach us about them because they are so key to being a good actor! It made everything so much more crystal clear to me then it ever was before!
an objective in acting is this : what is it that you want? Not what you are physically saying or doing what you really want.
For example: A girl is telling her friend that she feels invisible to guys and that she thinks maybe its because shes ugly or not skinny enough.
What is her objective? She wants her friend to give her compliments, anything that will reassure her, boost her confidence, etc…
an obsticle in acting is this: what is keeping you from getting what you want?
so in this case her obsticle might be that shes afraid her friend might not say what she wants to hear, or maybe her friend isnt paying attention to what shes saying.
Then there is the overall objective, which is an event that changed that persons life forever. something big.
This girls overall objective might be that she was told she was ugly as a child. or maybe a certain boy she liked rejected her?
etc etc…
We were all given scenes and assigned to find the overall objective, objectives and obsticles for them which will be fun!
Other than all of that, nothing else really goin on here.
lates!
Objectives are one of the major things that I still remember and use afte rthe university acting degree is over…they are really helpful! Long and time consuming but helpful! Good luck with the audition! It’s nice to have time to prepare, I was sent to like 6 last week on top of doing my Script for the Home Show…that rushed, not sure anything went well!

congrats on the audition!! hope u do well…. i’ve been reading ur entries (even tho not noting them all), and i’m starting to think this acting stuff is way too complicated. “whose line is it anyway” makes it seem so simple 😛 Have a Nice Day!
