I made it home!
When an airline crew is shuttled on a flight to another location for work, it’s called a deadhead. Not sure why and I know b it’s strange, but that’s what its called. Anyway, the four day trip I just worked ended with the last part being a deadhead shuttle home. The problem was that because of snow we were delayed having to get de-iced out of Salt Lake City to Reno and so by the time we got bavk to Salt Lake for our Seattle deadhead, we had 15 minutes before the flight was set to leave and it was the last flight out.
As soon as our last passenger got off the plane we hauled ass to our gate. Gasping for air I reached the customer service desk first and V let the gate agent know that we were a deadheading crew on that flight. He said “Oh no. That flight has already departed.
My heart sank. I was hoping they would wait a couple minutes for us. Now we were going to be stuck in Salt Lake City instead of getting home for Thanksgiving.
“But hold on let me see if the plane is still here.”
The gate agent left and came back one minute later saying the plane was there and they are willing to get us on!! Omg YAY! They pulled the jet bridge back up to the plane and opened the door for us. Thank the lord!
I thanked the gate agent profusely and told the crew that they were amazing for getting us home. They even put us in first class!
I finally arrived home at 1 AM. Tomorrow I have errands to run and then I drive up to the family cabin with Jake ( my cat ) for Thanksgiving dinner. Lots to do! Goodnight!
