Day at Venice Beach

It was too nice to stay indoors and so I grabbed my beach bag, towels, a water bottle, and a book, and headed out to Venice Beach! When I parked my car at a meter and paid for 2 hours time at the meter.  My stomach was grumbling and since I didn’t bring any food with me I scouted out a deli sandwich shop on the corner before the sand. When I went in though the guy at the cash register said "OH! I am sorry, but we were just closing!" I said "Oh okay! I understand!" and as I turned to leave another guy behind the counter said "Hey! It’s okay don’t go! I don’t mind making a sandwich for you!" So yay! I got my sandwich! Haha. And it was a fricken huge sandwich at that! How nice of him 🙂 So I set out to the beach and found the perfect spot to lay out my towel and park my butt on the sand.  The sun was already glowing orange and ready to set, since it was about 6:00pm. The waves were crashing, couples were walking along the shore holding hands, the sound of the gulls was everywhere, and the breeze was just right. 🙂

At one point I started day dreaming and having this fantasy about a hott surfer boy noticing me, the mysterious girl all alone at the beach, wanting to keep me company. lol 

But no, the boys were interested in only one thing, surfing, and skating, and I was there to read so that is exactly what I did! 

A half hour later I looked up from my book to grab my water bottle,  and noticed that I wasn’t alone!
I had company!!

 Because of my sandwich being nearby, there were about a dozen gulls surrounding me, all standing about 3 feet away, just staring! lol! I was so caught up in my book that I didn’t even feel their presence! Others around me had been laughing and I didnt know why! Now I did lol.  So just to humor them I dug into half of my dinner and threw the gulls bits and pieces since they had been so patiently waiting. They chased each other and fought and squawked at me like little babies complaining haha. One of them actually flew up to me and took a piece of bread out of my hand! It was lots of fun ^_^

I stuck around until sunset and then headed back to my car. Well…to my surprise there was a parking ticket on my windshield! I looked at the meter and it said that I had 28 minutes left….wtf? So I just shrugged and figured I’d fight it, but just as I got in the car I noticed a sign 3 cars down that I did not notice before.

2 hour parking from 8am to 6pm
after 6pm is 10 min passenger loading only!

CRAP!

Well why couldnt they have put more than one sign and make it bigger so it would be more noticeable! I had just assumed that since there was a working meter in front of the parking spot, that I was okay! Guess not….damn. This is my second parking ticket since I’ve moved here….I have to be more careful. From now on I’m really going to look around and pay attention to signs! 

Either way I still had fun!
