A date that finally happened
Today it seems impossible to get anyone to commit to a date. We will flirt, we will text, and as soon as I try to make solid plans to meet, I’m ghosted or they just don’t show up.
Well I matched with this cute guy named Sam on bumble and after chatting for a bit I said we should meet up and he agreed. We made plans to go to karaoke at a teapot shaped dive bar called bobs java jive. I was pretty surprised that he actually showed up! Finally someone showed up! And HE WAS CYYUUUTE. As soon as he came in we greeted each other and then ordered drinks. I didn’t expect him to buy it for me just because we had literally just met, so when he didn’t make a move to pay I wasn’t really bothered.
We found a booth in the karaoke area where there was a company party going on for a brewery. We were pretty much the only people that weren’t a part of it, but we didn’t mind and neither did they. I mean it wasn’t a private party so anyone could be there. We immediately hit it off. The conversation went easy and he was definitely easy on the eyes. One thing I really liked is that he complimented me right away, telling me I looked gorgeous. It made me blush and I was happy to know he found me attractive.
We both put songs in for karaoke and soon he was up singing a David Bowie song, however, while I was trying to listen this dude came up to the table and started talking to me, asking where I was from since he hadn’t seen me at that bar before. Then he started telling me about the brewery. I didn’t want to be rude so I was friendly with him until he left to go mingle with his coworkers. Sam is a musician, so it was no surprise to me that he has an amazing voice. Like professionally amazing voice, and it’s unique to him. I could listen to him sing all day. As soon as he sat back down at the table my name was called to go up and I said “Now how am I supposed to follow that?!” He laughed and cheered me on.
I sang Stay by Lisa Loeb. It. seemed like a 90s crowd to me for some reason. Sure enough, everyone loved it! Sam stood up for me as I came back to the table and said I had a really cute voice that was very pleasant to listen to and he really liked it a lot. I smiled. We decided to sit on the same side of the table because the place was so loud it was hard to hear each other speak sitting across from one another. As we were chatting that same guy from before came up to me, leaned over and said “ you sang really well by the way.” Then left. Sam looked at me and said “That guy really thinks your cute.” I said “I know, he was hitting on me while you were singing.” He said “ Ha. I noticed.” We kept chatting and getting to know each other and then he put his arm around me and asked if it was okay that he did that. I liked that he asked and I didn’t mind.
Just then, that dude came back over again to the table and sat across from us, asking how we were doing and if we were having fun. Then he offered to buy us drinks. Sam said he was fine since he was still finishing his and he said “well what about you what are you drinking?” I told him cider and he said “well okay come on I’ll buy you another cider but you have to come with me to the bar because they don’t let me buy two drinks unless the other person is with me.” I looked at Sam and he said “go ahead! I’ll be fine.” I told him I’d be right back.
As soon as we got to the bar that dude goes “Yeah that was all just a ploy to get you away from him. He’s not your boyfriend right? I’m wondering if I can get your number or if I can give you mine?” I was shocked. That has never happened to me before. I mean a part of me was impressed that this guy was so bold, but another part was like wow what a douche bag. I smiled and said “look I appreciate your effort, but I’m on a first date and I’m not going to be disrespectful. So you don’t have to buy me that Cider anymore.” The guy was was like “no no I’m not gonna be a douche and say I’ll get you one and then not. Here. Enjoy!”
I went back to Sam shaking my head and said “you won’t believe what just happened” And he said “he asked you out didn’t he?” I said “How did you know? Omg this is so embarrassing. I’m sorry.” He said “Hey, nothing to be sorry for. You’re gorgeous and if I was him I’d probably try to take you away as well!” I laughed. “Well of course I turned him down because I’m happy to be here with you.” Sam smiled. “I’m happy to be here with you as well.” I gave him the cider and said “His gift to you.” We laughed.
I started to notice that people were staring at us. Like everyone in the bar kept looking over at us and watching us as if we were a TV show. I mentioned this to sam and he was like “oh yeah. People have been staring at us all night. It’s because they can tell that we are into each other. ;)” I said jokingly “oh? You think I’m into you?” And nudged him.
It was getting late and I had to be up at 5 AM the next day for work so I told him I should get going. As we were walking out he grabbed my hand which took me by surprise. I normally don’t like holding hands right away because it’s very intimate and couple-like. But I liked it. He walked me over to my truck and put his arms around my waist and said what a great night he had. Then he leaned in for a kiss. I hesitated. I didn’t know what to do for a split second. I did want to kiss him but at the same time I didn’t wanna take things too fast. It was too late for me to make a decision so I decided to just go for it. It was a sweet kiss. A sexy kiss. A passionate kiss. Oh my. Sam is a good kisser. Told me to make sure I text him when I get home and I promised I would. Then we says goodnight.
🙂 *sigh* I might be in trouble. He could be a bad boy, or he might actually be a genuine funny and sweet guy. I sure hope this doesn’t end up disappointing me.
