The path to travel home is through the remaining indian nations. There aren’t very many who are true to the old ways but I know that there are at least a few. Maybe I can find another to start teaching me things again, perhaps there is one who isn’t tied too much to his beer or one who isn’t swept up the newcoming movement of business and deceit. But the way back, the way back is going to be through the indian nations; the white man simply doesn’t practice those ways, not anymore. Nor does anyone else.
The fact of the matter is that I’m going to need further instruction and teaching to be able to survive on my own. I know the basics for most things but edible plants and berries I’m simply not that knowledgeable about. I’m sure there are many old ways as well that would be really helpful in this. All sorts of tricks and secrets that I would otherwise be unknowing of could be right there in front of me waiting to be found. I would be wise to find someone else in a similar key and to be taught by them. Perhaps I could learn more about the Ancestor as well. The path of the Chippewa is all but dead, but it isn’t dead yet. I’ll never know more if I don’t take the time to look. So perhaps I need to start looking.
