celebrations & commemorations
It appears USA is again psyching up for a remembrance of 9/11, and on my radio earlier they were talking about the Bali bombing 2002 which will be commemorated on October 12th. I truly understand the sorrow and heartbreak of both these trageties, however I also want to remind everyone how much there is to celebrate in the world. I feel the Bali bombing although costing fewer lives than 9/11 has had a greater impact on the local people. The Balinese lifestyle was largely dependant on tourism which has dropped by two thirds since 10/12, leaving so many families financially destitute, there is increasing racial tension and their economy cannot afford to rebuild places and lives in the same way USA can. Not that it is fair to make comparisons, but it is important to appreciate the impact is as serious.
Anyway, let us say a prayer for them all and move on.
Let us learn from these terrible things, let us grow as one people, (the human race) let us remember how blessed we are that the sun shines each day and the stars twinkle. Each morn is precious with new promises of a new day in which to grow and laugh and love. Each night sky serves to remind us not only of our individual insignificance in the vastness of the universe but also of the awesome power of creation. (And I believe that creation and evolution go hand in hand, not in opposition…more of that another day). We can be thankful for rainfall which nurtures the earth and keeps things alive, be thankful for our family and friends, for their love and their existence, we can be thankful that we who are still on earth have another chance to put things right between us all. Worldwide countless millions of people every day are performing acts of kindness and love, are protecting and trying to preserve our wonderful environment. For every person that carries arms of war there are ten who use their arms to hold someone close in love or support. This wonderful planet earth can sustain each one of us if we choose to let it be as it should.
Let us celebrate the resiliance of the human spirit and our reason for being here.
Have a wonderful day, I plan to. Touch other lives, I try to. Lift your face to the sun, I often do. There is great power in God’s creation and each of us is part of that.
“Let us not save all our flowers to strew on the graves of the dead, but scatter some on life’s pathway to comfort the living instead.”

hear hear! I so second that emotion: the constant scab picking here over 9/11 makes me bonkers. It was horrible and yet so are many things that still go on, I mean what about the people’s lives our government helps destroy daily? It’s like no lessons are learned, feh! RYNs: Thank you very much for all the kind words! 🙂

We are so blessed by the little things God gave us..but so few remember to notice them. Gods creation is like a painting that changes with the seasons. Thanks for the note it was a blessing to me. God bless you in all that you strive for. ††† Leta~

yeah, sometimes when I am in the RSA for a meal, and at 7 o’clock, they read out the Ode, and there is a silence, and I ask myself whats this about, and usually I think…yeah we should not forget those who died, regardless of who was right or wrong, which side won or lost. But at other times I think differently. I guess its part of our universal learning curve. Hugs
