Can face mask expired?

The shelf life of masks is generally three years.

When we choose a mask, first we need to check whether the surface of the mask is clean and even whether there are any damages or stains, and then choose the suitable size.  You should also check the product specifications, the manufacturer, the implement standards, product approval documents number, etc. Especially pay attention to the manufacture date and the expiry date.

Classification of Protective masks

1,N95 mask: It complies with the National Occupational Safety and Health Association(NIOSH) standard, N95 approval. The PFE is 95%for the particles with diameter of 0.3 Sodium chloride test at 85 L/ min

2, CE certificated mask. According to EN149:2001+A1:2009 standards, it has FFP1/FFP2/FFP3 three levels; the PFE is 80%/94%/99% in separate. DOP oil test at 95 L/min (PARTICLES ABOUT 0.02-2μm )

3, Surgical mask: It is made of three-layer non-woven fabric, suitable for use in the operating room; it can block particles with a diameter of about 4 microns or more.

ASTM standard LEVEL2：BFE>=98%，PFE>=98%, EN14683 standard：TYPE ll：BFE>=98% is more popular.

4,Dustmask: Mainly dust-proof, without anti-bacterial function.

5,Ordinary paper mask:  it’s useful for blocking large particles, viruses with diameter less than 5 microns can pass easily and have limited bacteria isolation.
