What it means to be human

The one distinguishing factor that separates us from the animal – it’s not emotion, speech, or cognitive ability.

It’s the fact that we are the one species that has moved beyond "survival" as the primary worry. Rather than worrying about dying from starvation, illness, or from a predator, our primary aim has had the privilege of being something much more abstract – wealth, power, and pleasure. That’s something no other animal has been capable of (on it’s own)

How bout domesticated cats? They don’t care about survival at all, they sleep all day 🙂
