you didn’t know what you were about
title: wrong – artist: everything but the girl
I need to do a proper catch up. and write a proper entry. and a few other things, I’m sure.
but, in the meantime, there’s this…
current book
The Long Way Down | Nick Hornby
I haven’t gotten all that far into this one. I’m feeling the urge to read something with achingly elegant prose just ’cause I’m fiending for some beautiful language these days. And a book centered around suicide isn’t really doing it for me right now.
current shame-inducing guilty pleasure
bopping out to whatever is vibrating through the speakers while at stoplights, even while I can see other drivers looking my way via my periphery skills and/or rearview mirror
current favorite colors
cotton candy pink; deep, dark plum; grey
current favorite food
I’m craving spicy soup lately. and chocolate. and red wine. the last two are most definitely due to pms.
current favorite drink
extra dirty (gin) martinis
current link

current outfit
light pink plaid on a field of pale, minty green flannel pajama pants and a light pink camisole
current fragrance
apple blossom eau de toilette from the body shop
current wish list
fedora
a lip balm (in a tube) for winter that I adore
feeling the love
current needs
a neck message (it’s feeling kinky)
a good book
a deep breath
sleep
current music
wrong | everything but the girl (I’m more than a little obsessed with Tracey Thorn’s voice lately)
soon we’ll be found | sia (letterman has astoundingly great taste in music – or whoever is in charge of booking the bands does, at least)
superheroes | esthero (I keep having esthero songs popping into my head in the midst of whatever obsessive music kick I get on. I seem to be bouncing between this one and lounge as of late. well, when I’m not basking in the yummy, mellow glow of Tracey Thorn, at least)
don’t explain | cat power (the degree to which I heart this cover is something I have yet to truly wrap words around)
current anticipation
a drive of adequate distance for blasting a few choice tunes
current triumph
learning to find the awesomeness in a rather unpleasant situation – which is something I’m working on reminding myself of until it becomes the consistent view here. but, hey, seeing it is definitely an excellent start.
current bane of my existence
bruised tailbone – but it’s much better than what it was. woo!
current indulgence
a shower schedule wackier than my bedtimes this week
current #1 blessings
my mom
realizing how many awesome and amazing people I know (and a pivitol moment that transpired in a Sam’s Club bathroom thanks to one of them)
being alive and happy about it
current mood
ready for bed
i’m stealing this.

Well I agree about your Mom. She’s da Bomb! I bet she is a bombshell too. I had a bruised tailbone once…and I was MORE THAN FRUSTRATED because It really does constitute the phrase “Pain in the Ass!” So…You need a book, eh? What do you like? besides wool. Hmmmm?

i’m reading Anna Karenina at the moment and i’m trying hard not to read it all at once, breathing in the prose like air, trying to preserve and really enjoy it instead of gobbling it up all at once – i’ve been gagging for this kinda reading for awhile…go hit up tolstoy maybe, or tennyson

Achingly elegant prose? You could try The Calligrapher by Edward Docx. CHOCOLATE. I both need and want this.

love that you have such exquisite taste in music. you don’t hear from me often enough, but i’m still terribly fond of you 😉 oscar wilde has the gift of leaving me aching with the beauty of his prose. i’m currently in the midst of “reading lolita in tehran” and that’s been lovely as well. on a harsher level of beauty though. much love, ev
