technical dificulties leading to currents*
*amended to note that it would seem I’m trying to break/spice up my usage of "awesome" with the alternative of "rad" a lot more lately – something I hadn’t noticed until this entry made it rather glaringly obvious
Phil (the laptop) has been all, "Meh. Try again later." recently. So… I need to get it together and bring myself to use a desktop with more regularity than trying to go through some email and keep my RSS feed from growing to crazy numbers of unread items every other afternoon. So far, I haven’t managed to do this. Hopefully I get it together before my CoA backlog gets so crazy I’m tempted to abandon it. (Okay, so I’m kind of there now, but I’m trying to ignore that.)
Also, I didn’t do the smart thing and keep my list for Helen’s brilliant request/suggestion "in the cloud" so I’m trying to recall what I had going (mostly for the books, I’d started a playlist on YouTube with most of the songs covered there) before Phil did that petulant thing.
So… since I haven’t done a currents entry in awhile, we’re going with that for now. It’s usually a good way to get a gist for the goings on. (I’ve had a lot of caffeine today, this may get even more all over the place than it already is.)
ONWARD!
current book(s)
This is… embarrassing. Sort of. I finally finished up the John Eldredge book I had going for so long. I haven’t quite been in a fiction mood of late, so Cloud Atlas is still hanging out, waiting for the day I get back to it (which is likely to be soon if my whole "settling in with autumn" mode continues – so far it’s been limited to knitting [really cool knitting!], though). I always try to have something nourishing in the spirituality department going so I’m slowly making my way through The Life of Faith by Cornelia Nuzum right now. I’m loving it, even if I haven’t ripped through it (especially given its length).
current shame-inducing guilty pleasure
Diet sodas with artificial sweeteners. I’ve tried to switch over to the stevia sweetened stuff but it’s SO sweet. And mostly in weird and/or fruity flavors and I’m getting burnt out on it and way too excited about the occasional Diet Dr. Pepper or Coke Zero.

current favorite colors
I’m starting to get into the jewel tones for Fall. I’ve gotten smitten with my OPI Get in the Expresso Lane polish, even though the "pronouncing espresso as expresso" is kind of up there with fingernails on a chalkboard for grating. And and and, I’m pretty sure my favorite manicure combo is OPI’s Play the Peonies on all fingers, except the ring fingers, which are done in OPI’s Teenage Dream. It’s so girly and rad!
current favorite drink
Grande Quad Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Back in June, I got obsessed with finding up-do options. HairRomance.com’s "twist and pin" tagged posts are full of awesome!
I’ve been rocking variations of this and this lately. (The first one? Tiny cinnamon roll hairs!)
This, from WhenParentsText.
This McSweeney’s post makes me think of this My Drunk Kitchen.
current outfit
Essentially pajamas; short black shorts with white trim and light blue cami.
current fragrance
You guys, I put on Twilight Woods lotion when I got out of the shower. NO ONE IS SURPRISED! But I’ve actually been wearing a lot of B&BW’s Into the Wild lately. Totally digging on that one, man. AWESOME!
current wish list
That I hadn’t splashed the 50/50 vinegar/water mix with a copious dose of essential oils INTO MY EYE earlier (I was on a mission to clean the kitchen cabinets and deter any other itty bitty ants with bad ideas in their itty bitty heads.) It didn’t go all super red, but it still feels irritated, many hours later.
That I was getting my Bithia bob this weekend. It would mean a.) I’d settle my bob jonesin’ while also getting a Bithia fix and b.) I’d be in upstate New York and I could see girls and babies and Val and the pretty, pretty (though, from the sounds of things, very waterlogged) surroundings. (Bithia and bob are hair references, for the uninitiated, though Bithia is a totally rad stylist, while the bob is a hairstyle.)
To escape another Kansas winter. We may get less snow here, but the wind, y’all. Ugh, it’s brutal.
current music
I was going through the previously mentioned YouTube playlist (so you’ll get to see that in the near future). Otherwise, there’s been a fair amount of Misty Edwards with the occasional dose of Bon Iver’s latest album. Please tell me you’ve seen the video for Holocene! IT IS SO RAD! And it’s actually making me kind of want to knit a sweater for the first time in my knitting…ness.

current anticipation
Seeing Ashley on Saturday. Last time I entry-ed, I’d anticipated maintaining the peek-a-boo dip dye. But then I got to jonesin’ for my old bob. So I started contemplating a long bob, while toying with going back to the Jenny McCarthy inspired bob I’d rocked previously. This made it seem totally logical to start a Pinterest board for a potential haircut. And as I pinned, I started considering many other bobs. I’m pretty sure I’ve arrived at going in with numerous pictures of Chelsea Kane’s bob, the shorter variation. I think my hair is now longer than it was the last time it was the longest it’d been in awhile. And, again, I’m all, "Let’s whack 4+ inches off this ‘do!" Since the new cut is short, the dip dye is soon to be gone. I also think I’m going featherless this time. They held steady for 6 months. And some of them could probably go another 2, if I was game. I might be game. We’ll see.
current triumph
Quite possibly overreacting to the discovery of a rather small group of very tiny ants in some food when I went to put up my Red Bull today. It kind of wound up taking over the remainder of my day. But I deep cleaned a lot of the kitchen, and so continues the annual to bi-annual moving-type preparations, whether or not there’s a known move in the mix. Anyway, the kitchen still smells faintly of vinegar and it’s looking rather clean. Turns out, a vinegar solution makes cabinets look quite shiny. Who knew?
current indulgence
Allowing myself to seriously consider giving up on the stevia soda experiment. And possibly make brownies. Though I think my chocolate cravings are finally starting to subside.
current blessings
A pretty lovely life filled with numerous bits of awesome. Which is making me think giving up on the Cache is not the thing to do. Look at that, I managed to get talked back into it over the course of an entry. 🙂
current mood
Your laptop is called phil hehe; mine is called snotface, due to ongoing behaviour issues. Vinegar is totally the best cleaning product out there. That and baking soda, with occasional addition of lemon juice or eucalyptus oil cleans pretty much everything in my flat.

EXPRESSSSSOOO NOOOOOOOOOBless you for the links to wondrous hairs. Because, you know, my chasing rabid-like after them all on Pinterest already needed an extra hand.Speaking of? FOLLOWING YOU NOW

I read Cloud Atlas years ago, my flatmate bought it purely because the cover was pretty LOL. Not a bad book. I too have been reading more non-fiction lately, I have always been a fiction slut until lately. I guess it’s good to experiment and broaden your horizons etc. That video/song is amazing. Proves that even the worst tosh of a song can be made better if performed by someone with genuine talent. Nice job! I didn’t realise she was British. Pronouncing “Esperesso” as “expresso” is up there with pronouncing “ask” as “arks” for me. Just no. Not really feeling the Holocene, but thanks for sharing it anyway. I love seeing/hearing new things and OD is great for that. I like the gratitude quote too 🙂
