love, you drive me
title: two by two – artist: dave matthews band
all for love, we become
larger than lifesize, wondersome
great in the eyes of someone
lifesize | a fine frenzy
driving down the recently opened roadways lashing this semi-rural landscape like the arteries of a large metropolis, contemplating recent events in a waning twilight that’s beginning to hint at a not-too-distant autumn, fighting back the inexplicable tears that have been stinging and spilling all day, it hits hard, yet seeping in through the periphery…
love demands room for something bigger than yourself. love demands that you give up all notions of playing small.
platonic or romantic, it’s not just about a soft place to land. it’s not just about acceptance. it’s about providing you, through the eyes of someone else, with a vision of greatness that you’ve yet to achieve and the insight and support necessary to reach it, all while you provide the same for another.
self-focus completely murders this. it makes it an impossibility. it emphasizes the limitations, rather than the possibilities. it mines the depths of all the "I can’ts" and, when it gets to the end of those, creates more. it causes the scope of one’s life to be limited to "you." and that will push everyone and everything else out, because they just don’t fit. and it will do this whether or not it’s the desired outcome.
this is an utter travesty, because, in all our ‘no man is an island’ glory, we are hardwired to manifest wholes that are greater than the sum of their parts, sometimes in nothing more than a fleeting moment, at others, over a lifetime. and everything in between.
Love really is the answer. Nah, really. Nah, REALLY.
If I can live my whole life in love for myself and all, then it’s all easy.

A wise man he is. Love, I’m amazed by all the different meanings that word evokes. Hope you’re well. 😉

I have neglected you of late, but this entry reminded me that I’m the one suffering because of it. Thank you for reminding me how beautiful you are. 🙂
