Lurching

Baby hasn’t really gotten the hang of crawling yet, but she can now get herself across a whole room. She kind of lifts her butt up, and kicks herself forward so she faceplants on the floor a few inches ahead of where she was. She does this a bunch of times, until she gets where she’s going. So she kind of lurches, instead of crawls. It’s cute.

She also says "dada" now. I was kind of hoping she might say "mama" first, but whatever. 🙂

I feel like she’s grown up a whole bunch just in the last month or so. She’s not just like a little lump of cuteness that lies there and looks at stuff, she’s moving all over the place and starting to explore the world. I love it, and it makes me sad at the same time.

I really do think I lucked into a very, very easy baby, though. At least, it feels that way compared to the way the moms at playgroup talk. They all seem really frazzled and stressed out or something, and all have stories about their baby throwing some massive tantrum in public or having to spend hours calming them down and stuff. My girl just…kind of hangs out. She’s very social, and smiles at everyone who says hi to her, and makes little "talking" sounds all the time, but it’s so rare for her to cry. She occasionally cries when I’m trying to get her to go to sleep, but even then it’s only for a minute or less, and she gets over it. So I don’t know if I just randomly have the easiest baby in the world, or if I somehow am doing something really right. If I’m doing something right, it’s completely by accident.

Sometimes, though, I think it’s an attitude thing. I hear other moms complain all the time about things that I don’t think are that big of a deal. Like waking up at night. Babies wake up at night. It’s normal! It wouldn’t occur to me to get all mad about it and complain all day. I just kind of acknowledge that I’m tired and go about the day, because I don’t see how whining about it is really going to help anything. So maybe all the other babies are just as good as mine, but their moms complain about them more or something. I don’t know.

She’s doing great with eating her solid food, although sometimes she’s way more interested in trying to grab the spoon than actually eating the food.

(I just felt like giving a little bit of a baby update rather than rambling more about Noah, and weddings, and things)
