Life
My man from my previous entry has been moved to stroke rehab. Presumably they feel he has a viable chance of making some sort of recovery. Whether it’ll be meaningful is to be seen I suppose. He survived the critical period which is good, and he’s compliant so hopefully they can work with him to give him some ability back. It’s a shame we’ll never see it, but we’ve done our best for him, we’ve cared for him wonderfully and his family were grateful for that.
They said so one of my colleagues yesterday that he had been in hospital up north for five weeks and not one nurse had introduced themselves. His daughter also added lots of other wonderful things about us, and it’s lovely to hear that you’ve made that kind of impression on someone. To be fair, we are that good. Laura, who had looked after him on the night shift when he was transferred to us, text me when she woke up the next day to see how he was getting on. When I told the family she’d asked after them, you’d think I’d given them the world. But that is how much we care, genuinely care. It’s not a rare occurrence to exchange texts between colleagues inquiring after our patients.
In other news, I’m back to the online dating. I’m chatting to a couple of guys, who both seem relatively normal! Who knows if anything will come of it but it’s made me feel a little more optimistic that I’m not a completely horrible person!
Xx
You’re not a horrible person, if you were you wouldn’t be getting the compliments from patients and families because horrible people don’t care, you’ve just been unlucky thus far with guys but I believe everything happens for a reason and you’ll get someone worth the wait 🙂 xx
