Still Here

We’re still at the hospital but I will say I’m 95% sure we’ll be home tomorrow. They really want to see her go home and her temps have become far more manageable that I think if they are hesitant, I could give enough of an argument to just let her go. Her temps really haven’t gone over 101 today which is so much better than the last five days. I didn’t realize that they had recorded her temp as high as 104.7 one day. Ouch.

They agreed to take her off the IV although she still has the line in. As long as she drinks enough and her pee doesn’t look bad, she should be good to go in that department. Her appetite is still nonexistent. I got her to take two bites of pancakes for breakfast and that’s it. No lunch but we piqued her interest by offering to bring in pizza from one of her favorite places and got her to eat two squares of that. Better than nothing that’s for sure. And her drinking water wasn’t bad either.

Thankfully the doctor tonight said she isn’t nearly as worried about the eating. As long as she’s drinking, she’d still let her go home. She understood when I said it’s so hard to get Lily to eat anything when none of the food here is anything like she is used to at home.

While she was eating dinner, she finally had the urge to poop. OMG. It was like the poop straight from hell. It was huge and stinky and honestly, I’m unsure how it fit out of her butt. We joked about it for a good ten minutes, especially since there was a night and day difference in her mood. She was literally dancing around. I would have felt much better with that out of my body too.

Today’s round of blood tests came back negative. There are some tests we won’t get back in a week but that won’t keep us here but I’ll be curious to see the results on those. And with the poop, we finally got to send off some stool samples to check for parasites, etc. Again, we probably won’t get true answers for a good three days but we’ll at least get a possible answer from that too. If not, this will always be known as that random virus.

My SIL had another good possible theory that she might just have the newest strain of Flu A and we just don’t have the swab for it yet. The doc even said this morning when she decided to rerun the test that she’s acting and exhibiting exactly the same issues with the two other kids here who do have it. The only reason I’m not convinced that it’s that is because it is pretty contagious. With the amount of contact I’ve had with Lily, I would surely have gotten it too.

So who knows. I guess. The only thing that counts is that we should be home by tomorrow. Too bad I can’t sleep for a week straight.
