Merry Christmas

Today has been low key and I very much enjoy that.  I grew up where my family celebrated on Christmas Eve so on Christmas Day, we all just lounged around.

My one sister is in Texas visiting her in laws.  My brother seems to be avoiding us.  And my other sister works today so yesterday worked out best to see her.  They came over to our place for a late lunch.  I splurged and served salmon and crab legs with wild rice and brussel sprouts.  It was so tasty.  I told mom she should spend the night with us so she doesn’t have to be alone on Christmas Day.  Gah!  She somehow managed to spend the night (it was iffy based on a conversation I had with her a couple days before).  I’m sure the kids expressing their joy of her staying helped.  But sheesh, she tore out of here as soon as she could this morning.  I think she was gone by 10.  Seriously?!?!  What is she rushing home to?  Granted, she won’t even relax and enjoy herself.  It saddens me (and infuriates).  But whatever, I’m not going to ruin my day worrying about it.

Of course, I’m still trying to get into my happy place.  The kids were up before 6.  They came out at 5:56 AM to go downstairs.  John actually got up to pee around 5 so I’m sure he never went back down.  Then my mom was up at 4 for the bathroom so I’ve essentially been up since then.  I’m contemplating a nap on the couch this afternoon.  Tired Johnny and tired mommy do not go well together.  He is doing better.  I’m sure a bunch of protein has helped.

I still need to write about my sister in law but that will wait for another day.  It’s time to catch some ZZZzzzzz’s.
