Three

230ish a.m., negative 1 degree Farenheit. Ew. I was sleeping for a little while and woke up around 2, of course, and the only warm place is under my many blankets. I’ve been pretty busy the past few days so haven’t been keeping up with reading and noting, but will get around to that soonish depending on how tired I am.

The two jobs are going fine I guess, but since I’m training at job number 2 I’m finding myself working both jobs on the same day a few times this week. Tuesday basically sucked because I worked at job #1 for 9 hours, and job #2 for 4 hours. We had enough snow at job #1 on Tuesday to rent out cross-country skis for the first time, and after telling one of the Maintenenace ladies that I didn’t know much about skiing I got to go out on the trails for about an hour. I’ll say, it’s cool to have a job where one of the things I get to learn (and get to temporarily step away from my job to do) is cross-country skiing. Since it’s a county park I guess the prices are pretty cheap–$6/hr– though I don’t know how much ski rental really costs.

I’ve also been training at the Co-op, like I said, and it’s been pretty okay so far. Figuring out the register and all that crap really isn’t that difficult, I’m just new so I’m pretty slow at everything right now. The people seem cool enough, though I’m basically stuck at the front the whole time with the cashiers who are, with the exception of one male, women. I can’t wait until I start getting paychecks so I can take advantage of all of the cool products the Co-op has. But yeah, I ended up working there around 5 or 6 hours today (Wednesday), but luckily don’t have to work there tomorrow since I’m working 9-6 at the Park job.

Oh man, this is pretty much a boring entry.

Not much else has been going on besides work. I haven’t managed to hear any good jokes from anyone lately, so let me know if you have one.

Maaan, I had to drive to the Co-op today during the "blizzard" conditions. I don’t really think it qualified as a blizzard, since visibility wasn’t really impacted at all, but there was still snow and the roads were still in terrible shape (and people still managed to drive like asses!). When I tried to turn into the entrance at the Co-op my car just slid right past (WTG ABS!), so I had to go to the next stoplight and turn around. One woman came into the store and said that she slid right through an intersection at a red light, but I luckily didn’t have anything like that happen. Well, that’s probably because I creep up to stoplights going 5MPH or so, but who knows.

Basically I don’t know if the weather’s a jerk or if other people are just jerks.

Umm… hmmm…. I don’t know what to do to make myself sleepy again. I’m trying to read Vonnegut’s "Hocus Pocus" again–I tried before but gave up on it after 35 pages or so. Has anyone read this? This time around I’m actually keeping notes, because for some reason I just can’t keep all of the damn names straight and can’t really get into the story for that reason. Ehh, we’ll see. I have lots of free time at work so I have to have something to read.

It’s almost Inauguration Day, I’m excited. It’ll be so nice to have a damn change.

Well, I don’t have anything else to say. Maybe I’ll carry my camera around tomorrow and come up with interesting things to photograph.

*random noter* I can’t believe it’s that cold! Weather is a big time a jerk…..and people are too! But try to Stay warm and have a great day! 🙂

i think people may be jerks because of the weather. or it could be the lunar persuasion… we did just recently have a full moon. but people are weird these days anyway. aside from that, people are freaking out here because it’s supposed to be around 12 degrees for tonight’s low. georgia people just aren’t used to that, i suppose. i’d like to see what your camera sees. hope you are well.

I always say that the roads aren’t nearly as bad as we think they are, simply because it’s the other drivers who make us fearful. At least that’s how it is here. Everyone in their huge ass trucks and SUVs with 4 wheel drive have no qualms about speeding past my ass and kicking up snow and drifts. I HATE that. But anyway, I digress. Your jobs sound exciting. 🙂

You get to ski and get paid!? Thats awesome. The only thing I can compare is working at a small video store with no uniform or boss. That was pretty awesome. I may be the only person with a SUV that drives like an old lady. 5000 pounds sliding at 50 miles an hour is dangerous. I just say pass me! RYN: I drove 15 miles to a trailer park and still got stiffed when I delivered everytime.Horrible

I wish I’d made notes when reading War and Peace recently. Not only lots of characters…but the same characters were referred to by many different names! That’s Russians for ya!

Kurt Vonnegut = lovely writing. I however can never get through Hocus Pocus no matter how many times I’ve tried to read it. I usually get to page 20 and have to stop. Slaughterhouse Five is my favorite book of all time by him, heh! i’m just random, i like your entries, heh, from what i’ve read anyway. Go Obama too, woot woot.
