It’s about time!

Just a quick update.

Last week I interviewed for a receptionist job at a nature reserve near here. It seemed like a pretty cool place, completely laid back. The office had lots of informational displays and a giant fake tree kids could climb into. There was even a stray cat named Scooter that wandered onto the nature reserve that now resides in the building and rolled around on the table during the interview.

I guess complaining (via my last entry) paid off, because they called today and said I got the job! I guess a year of urban forestry in San Jose did have some use for northern Indiana! I’m excited to have a job and excited that I’ll get to work at a nature reserve all winter. It’s out in the middle of nowhere, of course, and they said I’ll sometimes have to close the place down on my own. I don’t have a problem with this, though once it really starts snowing I know I’ll only be able to think of "The Shining" and being stranded with no contact to the outside world except a damn radio that doesn’t work (the radio thing isn’t true in this case, but you get the idea).

But still! Yaaaay!

Now I have to get my laundry together so I can use mom’s washing machine and have Thanksgiving there tomorrow.
