I had a burrito

What hell is like: having to shave with mens’ disposable razors for the rest of eternity. Seriously. And only soap as lubrication. For real. Don’t try it.

So there is this cold that I’ve been successfully fighting off for the past few days (I’ll feel a little weird in the morning but I feel fine after a half hour or so). I think it’s getting worse though (meaning the cold might actually be starting). I went on a long walk today and knew I was getting sick as I bent down to pet a nice Siamese cat I met down the street; I felt my sinuses start draining into the back of my throat and my nose began to stuff up. I headed straight to the store and bought the appropriate vitamin supplements, and came back and had an orange. I still feel the drainage though so I’m worried this might get worse. ::sigh:: Why now? But then again, I guess no time is really ideal.

Tonight the grandmother ordered us Mexican take-out. I had a rather good grilled vegetable burrito. I ate like an hour ago and am still pretty full. That’s making me sleepy, though it’s only 830 (and I sure feel lame about that).

Oh, I haven’t talked much about my sleep schedule lately. I picked up some valerian root from the Whole Foods market down the street a couple of weeks ago and have been taking it regularly before bed. I am happy to report that I slept 7.5 hours last night without waking up! Or, well, at least not remembering that I woke up. I’m not sure if this stuff actually works or if it’s just a placebo effect, but I don’t really care as long as I’m experiencing some improvement with my sleep. I like Whole Foods though because I have the option of buying the valerian root in liquid caps, but it’s 100% vegetarian. I didn’t know those kinds of pills usually weren’t vegetarian, but I guess I feel better knowing these are. I get a lot of food and products here generally that I know I probably couldn’t get in Auburn/Fort Wayne.

What should I do to fight off this cold that is looming over my head (or more accurately, my sinuses)? I’ve never been very good at taking care of myself when I’ve been sick… I’ve usually had to work or something, or have been stressed out about one thing or another. I don’t have to work tomorrow though.

Okay, that was boring!

I tried to work a little on my Peace Corps essays today but I didn’t feel creative at all.

I have a question. Where do all the cute, heterosexual/bisexual, intelligent, clever, funny, motivated, passionate, unstinky guys hide? Why aren’t they conveniently running into me and introducting themselves? ::sigh:: Should I start wearing a sign while I’m planting trees? (HEY BABY I LIKE TO STICK TREES IN THIS..HOLE I JUST..MADE. THAT’S PRETTY HOT HUH. SEE ME FOR MORE AWKWARD AND HOPELESS PICK-UP LINES P.S. I AM COOL NOT WEIRD OR ANYTHING EHEHEEHEH)

I’ve been trying to read Sartre’s Essays in Existentialism but I keep falling asleep. I sound really intellectual, right? It’s interesting but I always read a few pages, set the book on my stomach and pass out. If only that putting-books-under-your-pillow-and-absorbing-all-the-information stuff worked (in case you were wondering, it doesn’t).

Anyway, here’s hoping that this cold realizes it’s a loser and leaves me the freak alone.
