Do you like big pictures of turtles? *edit

When I woke up at 3am last night (after I wrote the last entry) I started reading All Quiet on the Western Front again. Bad idea. A long description of screaming horses isn’t exactly a dang lullaby. I’m re-reading Breakfast of Champions instead.

Work today was SO BORING. I tried for 2 hours or so to start a fire with no success. I am good at burning newspaper but that’s about it. I also read some and listened to a lot of NPR (luckily they have good Sunday afternoon programming). One couple came in and kept asking me stuff about rentals for a wedding reception or something. We do do rentals but I don’t know anything about it, but she KEPT ASKING QUESTIONS despite telling her I didn’t know anything about it.

The phone didn’t ring at all the entire day. I brought my camera with me, and the most exciting thing that happened today was a fashion photo shoot of Sally the turtle. I didn’t teach her how to give me a high-five, but I did teach her to be FIIIEEERRRCEEE. Pictures:

She kept giving me profile shots:

Usually when we let her loose in the gift shop she hides in/awkwardly peeks out of a rolled up poster we leave on the floor.

She likes to show off her curves:

and finally, the grand finale… A BOOTY SHOT.

Like I said, I was pretty bored today. I spent a long time designing a note, which pretty much documents Sally the turtle’s crappy weekend in bright colors. Here’s the note:

I am also working on my “HELLO I WOULD BE PLEASED TO TAKE YOUR PHONE CALL” face. It’s a work in progress/maybe a little too sarcastic:

I don’t really have any other exciting news to report and am not really in a writing mood. Bah!

*Edit: I usually like sharing things that I think are interesting with other people. If you have an hour or so you should listen to this and agree with me about how interesting it is: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=88

When I took Outdoor Ed, I was miserable at starting fires. Keeping it going, no problem. But starting it? Yeah, I feel your pain. And likewise having people repeatedly ask questions when you state outright that it isn’t your department. High fives will come in time, but these are GREAT pictures Sally! Any story behind her name? What a customer service face. I’m proud 😛 Love the blue nails, too

You are too adorable for words! Oh man, what I wouldn’t give to have a turtle as cute as Sally walk around at work! It would make my days infinitely better, I think. I can honestly say I’ve never tried to start a fire, but my guess is I would not be very good at it.

I know what I’ve been meaning to ask you….do you do rentals at your place of work? Can I have all the details?
