Man, I don’t know anything about moving! I have been looking around on different places online, and there are a few apartments that might be in my price range, but mostly not (that involves both 1BR, and 2BR if I want another Americorps member for a roommate). Honestly, I just don’t know anything about rent, utilities, and whatever.

Also, I won’t have enough money to cover first months rent AND security deposit… and whatever else is involved with moving over 300 miles away. If I can’t come up with the finances somehow I’ll just have to forego this Americorps thing and work somewhere around here instead.

I have spent all day on Craig’s List, emailing people and also emailing 2 girls who would be working with me in San Jose. Nothing has happened yet though, and I’m pretty tired of staring at the computer.

Anyway.

Paul and I had dinner with some older woman Paul used to work with. It was fun, but she did talk a lot (and I got tired of listening). She seemed nice though, and it is always cool to get out of the house.

Um.. I don’t really have much else to say? I have an interview at a coffee shop tomorrow morning, so we’ll see how that goes. I guess I should clean a little and not think about moving anymore.

Umm.. sorry if this entry is choppy, my brain hurts.

Oh, I’m also a little confused about how moving works when you’re trying to set up something long distance. Like, it’s not possible for me to go see the place or meet the landlord in person. Also, that specific Americorps program doesn’t give any relocation assistance, which is really too bad.

i wish we could help you =/ it IS a bit overwhelming. I am sure it will work out though, there’s gotta be someone that needs roommate.

I was wondering if Americorps would cover some of your moving expenses. Some businesses are willing to do that. Other then that, I don’t know how the apartments are set up there. But go around and call places directly about rent, deposits, gas/electric, and if they have any move in specials. Some places may have 1 month free.

And if you talk to people about getting a place, you can see if they are willing to cover the first month rent/ deposit fee and then you can cover the second month rent/utilities. Some people might be willing to do that as long you keep your end of the bargin.

That’s basically what Chuck and his roommate does… Chuck will cover his half of the rent/pay the utilities full then Nate pays Chuck back. Grant it, they know each other for 7 yrs… Either that, hit up some money for the apartment from people.
